View Full Version : Road Trip Home - Dearborn, MI to Houston

I'll be picking the car up in Dearborn and hopefully be done about 9am Saturday morning :seasix:

That being said, I've got a long road ahead to make it back to Houston by Sunday evening. :driving: (which I will be doing a lot of)

My goal is to try and spend Saturday night in Memphis, then I just have to blast through AK and TX (only :sarcasm:) on Sunday.

Here is my proposed route:

21730 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124‎
Take 75 from Toledo through Cincy to Louisville (will stop in BG for photos)
Hit 65 to Nashville
Then 40 to LittleRock
Then 30 to Texarkana
Then 59 waaa waaa waaa - all the way home :needcoffee:

So I plan to do a lot of :driving: without much  so I will need a lot of :needcoffee: If anyone is up for dinner and a meet up Saturday night in Memphis, or hell, I'll take a place to sleep while I'm at it (I snore REALLY loud) but will get up and try to head out around 6am Sunday morning.

I think it would be fun to get a picture with as many VB folks on the way home as possible to record the fun trip of our first brand new Corvette.

I wish the wife could come, but someone needs to watch over the pup. :sadangel:

So hit me up via PM if you want to try and meet up, maybe lunch in Cincy?

I'm so not going to be able to sleep tonight after flying into Detroit.

Should be a fun trip.

Halfway for me was Bowling Green so I spent the night there.

Here is the requisite NCM picture.

I was going to suggest not taking 75 and going 94 to 69 down into Indianapolis, and then pick up 65 on the south side of Indy. Adds maybe 20 minutes, but avoids Ohio. Between anal cops, constant construction, generally crappy traffic around Dayton & Cincinnati, slower speed limits (which I understand they're in the process of raising from 65 to 70) I try to go around Ohio when headed South.

But... if you're doing a weekend drive, it shouldn't be too bad.

FWIW...the speed limit had increased to 70 mph on certain highways.

Speed limit changes on I-75 begin just outside of Toledo going south until just north of Dayton. It does not include Findlay or Lima, according to the press release.

Don't speed in Ohio.

That's why I go through Indiana :)

A little more scenery in Indiana too, at least in northern Indiana.

That's where I got the '09 Z06 I had. Nice bunch of folks, even though they "didn't know I was coming in that day", after telling them I'd be there that day, and they picked me up at the airport...

So, good luck on hitting the road at 9:00am. :funnier:

I think I will go through Indiana as have been through Ohio before anyway :). Thanks for the advice Dave!

@Snide: the sales manager is picking me up in the morning and hopefully will get me done fast. Hell the dealership isn't even open on Saturday! Very odd.

It's faster if you pick up I 59 (Not US 59) down to I10 east of NO. If you use US 59 you have to deal with all those small town speed traps in East Texas.

I shudder to think what you'll spend on gas if you're leaving Tennessee and then going by way of Alaska before blasting through Texas on your way home.

Welcome to Detroit, many of the dealers aren't open on Saturdays, been that way forever.

got a couple more on my phone I need to get mailed over, couldn't get Photobucket to work with my phone for some reason.
