Guy on another forum, says his truck is making an odd sound

This has to be one of the worst sounds ive ever heard a truck make that isnt engine related...

2000 model GM pickup, 5.3, automatic, 4X4...

This sound is coming from the front suspension/diff area, and only when turned left or right...

I think he has grenaded the front diff and or gears, or a bearing has gone out...he cannot turn the front driveshaft at all...

My wife's old Tahoe cratered the front differential because the 4WD switch was bad and it would engage and disengage without you knowing it and the light would not indicate it was engaged. Not good at highway speeds.

It was expensive to repair and was traded in immediately after.

If I heard that sound I'd park it and call a tow truck. The only thing he's doing now is increasing the chance of causing more damage.

There would be a pronounced CLUNK with a trashed U joint.

Sounds like the brake pad has gone metal to metal or the caliper has come loose.
