Been digging through the old gear again. Found one of my Dunlop Cry Baby Wah Pedals. I remember it quit working about 20 years ago. So I plugged it in and sure enough, didn't work.

Took it apart, cleaned the hell out of it. (There was actually hell living inside it), sprayed the pot with electronic cleaner, new battery and - Shazam! Works now.

Chicka Wah wah wah "Standing next to a mountain..." Chicka wah wah wah "chop it down with the edge of my hand" Chica wah wah wah!

Too tired to shoot video. Maybe over the weekend.

Me too. Got mine in '78. It was used so I'm not sure how old it is. It's retired from gig use. Been using a Bad Horsie wah for 14 years now.

The tune you started at 1:30 was the one in my "mind's eye" when Pete started on the wah wah pedal explanation. :cool1:

Now you've gone and done it. I'll need to set up a proper mic and video this weekend. I used to play that, but really forgot it. Thanks for the reminder.

I dated mine as an 89. I have another one from early 70s but it really doesn't work. I may have sold it - not sure.

My gear is spread out all over the house, in closets, attic, garage. I'm looking for my vintage Ibenez Tube Screamer....

I think they're talking about guitars...or vibrators...knowing this crowd it's probably vibrators :leaving:

Found my other one ad it is seriously old. Lost the bottom plate and it doesn't have the date code on the bottom of the PC board so it is from the 70s. I'll clean it tomorrow and see if I can revive it. I bought it used back in the day.

Also found my original Tube Screamer. Not a reissue - the same one used by SRV. Hee hee hee neighbors are in for a rude awakening. I think I'll pull out my Boogie too.

Also found a Morley volume pedal....

Not with the wah pedal. That is a talkbox. It uses an air pump that directs the guitar sound through a rubber tube the player puts in his mouth. Then he steps up to his mic and all of his guitar sound is resonating from his mouth. He changes the shape of his mouth while playing and......

Traded my Talkbox years back. Kind of a three trick pony. Do You Feel like We Do, Rocky Mountain Way, Livin' on a Prayer and a few others.

I recall swapping out the pot in my Cry Baby years ago. Still works great. :seasix:

I've got "Bad Horsie 2". Works OK, but I was never a huge fan of the wah even though they are pretty much standard equipment. Gimme my green tube screamer in front of my Mesa and I'm all set.

I haven't used one in many years. But I used to use it differently. Instead of rocking it back and forth on the beat, I used it to accentuate notes. I'd hold it in one spot and punch it down on the note. More like an adjustable notch filter.

Gets really interesting with two of them together and a Leslie. But only in small doses. 98% of the time I play clean with a touch of spring reverb. No effects, pedals, distortion (other than tubes driving).

I love the clean Fender sound with tight low end and sparkling highs. The Mesa Boogie actually sounds better than the Fender Deville. It has a 12" EV with an absolutely enormous magnet.

Sparkling clean and louder than hell. At the same time, beautiful tone even at low volumes.

I used to have a 65 Fender Deluxe black face. Not very clean but damn good sounding amp for blues. Also had a 70s bassman.

But my go to amp for touring is the Mesa Boogie Mark IV. I can make it sound like any amp even though I just set it to sound like a custom Fender.

Too bad it weighs like 60 pounds.

I do like the sound of a wah if you press it down and hold it in one position. It can really add to the scooped neck pickup tone. The Bad Horsie 2 had a contour pot on it that controls the depth of the wah. A useful feature I think. Check it out here (http://www.morleypedals.com/dvai-2.html)

I'm a big fan of Mesa amps. I've got this one. Boy is it LOUD. (http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Rectifier_Series/roadster/roadster.html)

a Leslie
Never tried one. When I think of the Leslie I always hear Clapton's "Badge" in my head. Love that song. :cert:

That is how Zappa used it, later that type of tone was more or less trademarked by Tom Scholz. A lot of times I use it the same way, click it on, roll it back, and modify the tone, using it sparingly for effect.

Another old vid.
