Any new appliances? Floor? Paint? You'll love the glass tile and granite, just make sure you seal that stuff every so often. You'll be able to tell when it needs it. You can buy the good stuff that the pros use if you look online.

Hung the microwave last week.

Floor?
Floor about 6 months ago.

Paint?
Right before the floor and carpet. I was slinging paint everywhere. :D

It's Cambria. We looked at granite, and laminate. Laminate was out, granite needs maintenance. :cert:

Any more pictures? The wood has too much grain for my taste but I dig the backsplash and floor. I don't like it as much when the backsplash is the same as the counters (like in my kitchen).

We're in the middle of remodeling the master bathroom. That's it for this house. No more.

Is the back splash faux brick or did you paint it that way? We already have faux brick in our kitchen for a black splash and I want to do something with it. We are fixing to redo our kitchen.

When we redid my neighbor's kitchen next door, out came the brick and in with very similar glass tile, lighter overall and not as long, but the run was not as long either....only about 6' or so....has an island sink....granite also....

Wooden you know it, got called out to a house I fixed long time ago, yet another one, house was beautiful.....past tense WAS.....

granite tops, nice cabinets, should see it today, tenants abandoned prop last January, closed it up and so a water leak under the kitchen sink, water on the floor, sat for months like that, no stove, no fridge.....and you should SEE the mold/mildew/growths on the sheetrock walls, tile floor also....house is going to take well over 15 grand to fix....and at that, I doubt it will EVER pass an electronic mold sniffer.....lovely.....:issues::sadangel:

what was the deciding factor for Cambria? Pros/cons?

Looks nice Thomas. :cert:

We looked at laminate first since its the least expensive. We ruled it out immediately. It looked somewhat cheap, and doesn't hold up as well as Cambria or granite.

Granite is VERY expensive and requires maintenance. We wanted something maintenance free. Cambria gives you the durability of granite without the maintenance. It's also less expensive. It seemed to be the best option for us.

I have heard of possible chipping around the sink, especially if you went with an under mount as we did.

The biggest headache was the damn faucet! "Too hospital!" or "Boring!" We're common complaints. A decent faucet will set you back $300+. I ended up re-piping the entire drain piping and water supply. Gotta have the pull out spray head don't ya know!

As far as I can tell, you have the same kitchen faucet as us. BTW, I'd never heard of Cambria before. We considered quartz instead of granite but hell it's about the same price. The maintenance on granite is very minor, it's not a deal breaker.

Tom, please tell all.....

:waiting:

It's my understanding that Cambria is a name of a company.

Cambria is the sole producer of engineered quartz surfaces in the United States. They are located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with additional facilities in Le Sueur, Minnesota; Charlotte, North Carolina; Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ontario, Canada. They are a subsidiary of Davisco Foods International, which is privately held and owned by the Davis family.

Cambria produces quartz surfaces, primary for use at kitchen countertops. It is used in a similar manner as granite, except that it is not porous thus requires no periodic sealing. The look of any quartz countertop compares to granite in that the colors are deep and consistent.

The process of creating the countertops is different than granite, in that it is an engineered product, consisting of about 90% quartz and 10% epoxy binder. An engineered product that requires no sealer has the advantage in that require no harsh chemicals to seal, nor do they emit harmful chemicals into the air, making them potentially more environmentally friendly.
