Ive been on, probably a half dozen forums over the past 3 weeks trying to get help as to why my truck idles too high, Ive replaced components, sensors, computers...and never got any change. Id decided that it was a computer chip, demanding high idle, but no one would listen, in person, on the phone, or online, that this is an option..that, prom chips do not go bad.
Well, after over 3 weeks of going back and forth by phone and email with a chip tuner, I FINALLY got him to send me a stock prom chip...and voila..idle is fixed. I had a bad Prom (memcal)..and it for whatever reason was idling over 1000 rpms, regardless of sensor input.
So, if anyone ever comes upon a problem where you cant get to a scanner, and you have a problem that yo ucant explain by doing tests...do not rule out the chip/computer. If Id done what others were telling me, id have a new throttle body, fuel pump, intake, more sensors, etc....and be about a grand poorer...and still not have it fixed..haha
