Since I'm going to have to tear down and rebuild my motor, might as well make it better :D

Marcus says it's likely the piston rings failing. Car still starts and runs fine, so I don't think too much damage has been done.

Won't know the extent until it's out. The block will certainly have to be sent out to be refinished.

A leakdown test is in order.

I dont see anyway that ring lands could come out and not tear alot of stuff up. That said i had an AMC 360 that lost about 40% of the piston crown on #4 and never used any oil...you could see 40% of the compression ring.

This mule will be 6 years old on October 25th. Well past the 5 year, 100K warranty.

Has 14,500 miles on it.

No worries on this end. For as much abuse as this car has endured over the past 6 years, it should be expected. Christ, I bet about 3K of those miles are at 7,000 RPM. This is the first season the car is a single driver car.

Road racers have to rebuild every other year or so, so this seems to be inline in my opinion.

Also, after nearly 6 years, I'm a little bored. More power is a must. :hurray: Also going to get some race seats and start the weight reduction process.

I like your attitude Craig: get what you want and use it as you see fit and when shit breaks, fix it. I have people ask me on occasion why I have a certain car or a boat because they hear they break and are expensive to fix. I usually just shrug and say that if something breaks, I'll fix it. I'm going to have fun and roll what I like. 100 years from now it won't make much difference anyways.

That might be too much power. We have hard enough time keeping traction. I think weight reduction and a stock rebuild with a few bolt ons would be ideal. You don't want to go too far and hat the car.

It'll be too much power for what we do. ;) I'm thinking more along the lines of breaking records at the crawl and having a shit ton of fun with my car. With G coming online in the driving department, we may explore a different AutoX car. Even still, for GCAC, 660 will be just fine. May not win PAX, but will likely be the fastest car there 8 of 10 events. :seasix:

I don't recall seeing the weight listed. Just that it's 300 pounds lighter than the ZL-1. I did read that it beat the ZL-1 on a track by I believe 3 seconds. Sounds pretty fast to me. But then my car is only 252HP.

Being able to reuse parts is strictly a bonus on a fuel car. It's considered successful if you can still identify said parts.
