Ill admit..I shouldnt have said what I said in that thread, it was not the time or place to say such things. I am glad Grumpy is going to be okay, Ive never swayed from that feeling. He and I have a History, as I know many of you have a history with one or ore members of the CF administration. There is alot of emotion, that goes along with..being a member somewhere, and things are good...then you find out that the person you have been communicating with normally...is dealing behind your back and, well...I took it quite personally. Ive said some very critical and harsh things about Pewter as well, I do not wish ill will towards him however...my dislike for him is more or less with his online persona, same as with Grumpy...i cannot say anything about the MAN...as i only know him by way of the persona he presents on the forum. This goes to show though, how the persona one presents on forum...how powerful it can be, to those who do not know the person behind the curtain.
Its no secret LIZ does not like me...she genuinely dislikes me, and no doubt some very harsh, critical things have been said about me, to someone, somewhere...Does liz know ME?....no..LIZ knows 'Red"...and she passes judgement based solely on what she has seen.
Thomas is Gone...He was a nice guy, to me...I didnt know him personally but i had no beefs with him at all that i knew of. Some words were said among "friends"...eh.."personas"...and those words cannot be taken back, and the result..is what it is.
We are a Family, a Family of Personas. A VERY dysfunctional family comprised of people from different countries, different races..religions, dramatically different ages..different upbringings...and THEN...we all have our own personalities to contend with. How any of us get along at all is nothing short of a miracle in and of itself.

The rules here are indeed, quite Lax, as compared to numerous other forums...we can swear, we can call people out, we can argue...post boobies, tell terribly distasteful jokes...its great. But, yeah...its gets too comfy after a while and boundaries, as is human nature, will be pushed...some people may say something on a whim...having not put much thought at all into what was being said, or the context it may be taken in with...and just in passing..say something....and not see the fallout from it for hours...only to find that the shit has hit the fan, and backpedaling must occur...OR..stay the course and ride it out....sometimes its best to stand your ground, others, tuck tail and run.
At times..the playful razzing goes too far, it gets serious...before you know it, someone has been offended. Its difficult to stress feeling, and intentions...my text and smilies....

I agree joe. I've alway gone off dont talk about religion or politics. It never ends well. I believe the reason this forum has had people leave is because off all the political threads. In reality, whether you are a liberal, or a conservative, those ideas and beliefs are opinion based. Yet many of you tend to just argue till your fingers bleed.
At some point why can't you agree to disagree. It's not hard. I do it on this forum everyday. There are posts I find that I completely disagree with. But I don't tell them they're wrong. I think it's time that everyone lay off the political threads for a while. I'm am more than certain that's the reason multiple people have been driven away. Hell I started lurking CF more because I was tired of all the arguments and attacks on one another.
Time to let the pity shit go. I think most of you need to get out a little more.

Joebuck, thank you for starting this thread. Perhaps now that a little time has passed some of us can hopefully repair the damage that has been done.
When the Grumpy thread was started, I knew that no good could come of it. While I realize that some of you knew him personally, most of us had known him only as a Mod at CF. I now understand that those two personas were vastly different.
I have never personally met any member here or at the other place. I'm old and ornery, and I have no interest in Cruise-Ins or Barn Raisings. Your on-line personality is all I know. And frankly I don't understand why anyone would go to the trouble of being two people...an on-line person and a real-life person.
So forgive me if I expressed an opinion that was at odds with your experience with someone. It's all I had to go on. But...that expression of opinion did not warrant me being called "small", "tactless", and a "douche bag".
I have never and will never attack any of you personally. Even Joecoool, with whom I universally disagree, I never attack personally. He is entitled to his opinion the same way I am. Moreover, I try to contribute here, not criticize.
Yes, my feelings were hurt, but I'll get over it. I don't expect an apology from anyone. On the other hand, I offer no apology to you.
There are a sizeable number of members here who have not, and will not, forget their shabby treatment at CF. They exercised admirable restraint in not posting about Grumpy. I trust you understand and can appreciate that.

IMHO it's been used as a cop out too many times by people who don't have the stones to admit they were wrong. So, at least to me, when someone says, "Let's agree to disagree" they might as well be saying, "I don't give a crap what you are saying. I'm right no matter what. Feck you."
Just my .02 on that phrase. :cert:
Thats basically what it should be taken as, if both sides agree to it.
If you put Obama and Regan in a room and had them debate how to properly run the country... Ican assure you there would be no ground given up by either side, as they are so completely set in their ways....so in the end, both side basically says "shut up, f8ck you, dont care..not hearing it"...
Like Breast Feeding in public...i dont like to see it, I dont think it should be done in public, when there are alternatives such as pumping, feeding beforehand, feeding in a more private setting, or in a pinch...using formula.....Ive always felt this way. No argument is going to sway my opinion on this, all efforts are futile...and if anyone tries, there will be an argument. Doesnt mean I dont welcome people to try..I like hearing alternative ways of thinking, even if I dont always follow them.
RED-85-Z51
07-05-2013, 11:28am
No it shouldn't and anyone who thinks so needs to get a functioning brain. :seasix:
Then how should it be taken?
Agreeing ot disagree. When 2 or more sides of an argument cannot meet on a common ground, and decide to agree that to prevent wasted time, and possibly hurting some feelings...they should call it a draw and move on.

That's it. Argument != verbal fight.
If two people who disagree on an issue want to sincerely discuss their disagreement, with the full understanding they way not change the other person's mind that's one thing. Then if the discussion gets to the point of both people going round and around and no headway being made with both parties trying to have honest communication and dialog, they can both agree to disagree. Open dialog about understanding each others viewpoint is a good thing.
If one feels time was wasted and/or feelings hurt, then there wasn't a discussion of understanding. There was just a verbal pissing match and so using the phrase would fall into why I feel it has been abused. And as a society (not just in America but world wide) we've gotten to pretty much any "discussion" being a verbal pissing match and not one striving for understanding.

self - oneself or itself
policing -1 govern
2 to control, regulate, or keep in order by use of police
The minute the mods have to do this we become like...well you know. The Mods here have no desire to be like that.
So we all need to step back and take a look at what we post and self regulate.
If we do, then this stays a fun place. If you need to or want to discuss and argue a point or topic we have a section for that. PR&C - Politics, Religion, Controversy.
Carry on

It's not really that hard if you work from a starting point of tolerance and acceptance.
Old man tip...arguing opinions produces no winners.
So you will argue with another person, about something which you will never change your mind, over something a third person has every right in the world to determine for themselves.
Seems like a lotta wasted energy.
I just try to be civil anyway.
I think most people understand you more than you think. Personally, I've never seen you deny someone that has asked for help in your area of expertise. IMO, that says more about you than some of your misguided opinions. :cert:
Was there a PM? I didn't see in that thread where anybody asked for your help.
I understood The Barn would self-policing. It's a shame that we keep losing members because we fail to do just that.
Simple, isn't it?:seasix: A whole lot of common sense right there. Thank you! :cert:

If you put Obama and Regan in a room and had them debate how to properly run the country... Ican assure you there would be no ground given up by either side, as they are so completely set in their ways....so in the end, both side basically says "shut up, f8ck you, dont care..not hearing it"...
Actually they would probably agree on most things. Reagan was supportive of immigration reform, increased taxes, gun control, abortion rights, gay rights etc.
If he were running the country today, Half you guys would call him a communist. :D

The vast majority of those "guests" are bots, and they generally aren't too talkative. :funny:
But it does remind me, the ones from China tend to be undesirable and congregate here in large quantities, and I occasionally have to step in and trim the fat (so to speak), as they change IPs quite regularly. Looks like it's time to do that.

Are you high? Reagan was responsible for a MASSIVe...i say again...MASSIVE decrease in taxes which in turn boosted the economy. It's not like you libs would learn anything from that or anything.

She's the one who was feeling like it had gone too far and asked for assistance.
Then "She" could have accepted my apology, and/or sent me a PM saying, "Hey, lets knock this shit off" and it would have ended then and there. Let's not forget she was a willing participant up to that point.
