Me and one of my buddies took a motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan last week. We left from the Chicago 'burbs through Indiana to Traverse City, MI on the first day. The next day we made it to Escanaba, MI before a storm kicked our butts. The third day we made it through Wisconsin hitting Green Bay and Milwaukee and then back home.

Here's me and my '03 Triumph Sprint ST:

Here's my bud and his '86 Yamaha Fazer:

All in all a great trip. We rode through a lot of rain and at times traffic was crazy, but in the end it was worth it.

Yupp, that's 1000 miles. My first Saddlesore 1000 was circling Lake Michigan. Took 22 hours, went clockwise. Was a real killer but I got that damned plate holder

Nice cruise! :cert:

My Grandpa built a house for he and my Grams on Torch Lake (a bit East of Traverse Bay)
That is a beautiful drive. :yesnod:

That is really cool, props to your bud for taking that on with a 27 year old motorcycle.

Great trip. Nothing better than touring on a motorcycle. I had one of those Sprints....loved that bike! The off road exhaust on the triple is pure sex for the ears.

My current Triumph the day I brought her home...

A couple of issues with the Fazer due to the rain we think, but other than that it was all good. :seasix:

It's a great bike. I've only had one issue. The ECU went bad on it and a new one runs about 2k. Luckily I found a used one on Ebay from a Sprint RS that I was able to reprogram for the ST.

Sounds like a great trip, those long ones can sure wear you out after awhile. :yesnod:

I remember leaving Hickory heading back to Ohio years ago and got caught in one hell of a rain, we were soaked to the bone, cold, tired, and after a few hours of trying to wait it out under a bridge, I said to hell with this...

Drove through the rain to the next highway exit, rented a U-Haul, put the bike in it, and drove home with the heat on high!
