I just cut my mini schnauzer and it's bath time.
His skin is kind of sensitive from Cushing's disease.
Does anyone shampoo their dog with Head & Shoulders?
I know, I know.... Pics of wet bitch....

Dogs need a shampoo with a different pH than humans. Our products tend to give them skin problems... dryness, itching, etc.
They do make doggy shampoos for dogs that already have skin problems.

We were told to use Johnson's Baby Shampoo on our puppy.
That has to be more gentle than an anti dandruff shampoo

They're done. I did it... Let see if anything bad happens. I'll look into dog shampoo for next time as suggested. Check out the schnauzers eyes. He's totally blind.

I doubt one shampoo could do much harm, but I wouldn't make a regular thing out of it.

They have good doggie shampoos for sensitive skin and more importantly they don't strip away the flea/tick control you have put on them. Another thing is to be careful giving too many baths since that can dry out their skin. There are some good waterless shampoos that are good for when they need washed but it's too soon.

Old age cataracts? I had a dog that went blind, then had arthritis and was having trouble walking. We also had her son. He'd walk alongside her and hold her up.

He has diabetes and Cushings. I think that the diabetes caused the blindness. He's up to 13cc's of insulin in the morning and in the evening.

Dishwasher, no soap. They're kind of wired afterwards. Don't do high heat, messy. Hard to get them in there the second time.

I've always used people shampoo & conditioner too. It seems that Bandit always itched after that though, so I used H&S this time. He did not itch this go around but it may be that I didn't cut him so close this time either.
He's happy and looks good....:seasix:

Your dog gets better hair treatment than I give myself..
I wouldn't get into the habit of using it...
Good stuff for dogs with sensitive skin is readily available online...you don't have to get it from a vet.

We use a doggy shampoo. Boxer's have short hair and have particularly sensitive skin.
