VIR-The good, the bad and the ugly

Our crew took a beating this trip. 2 C6 Z06's blew up their engines at the exact same place-one C6 Z06 fried its wiring harness, one C5 steering pump crapped out, and I ended up with a broken windshield.I actually think I came out pretty good. Made my best lap to date-a 2:11. So here are some pics.

When we got to the event parking area, the C7s were already there. I got to sit in this one and play with the controls a bit. There were a total of 3 C7s. One torch red, one midnight blue (BEAUTIFUL) and a black one.

My buddies car and pieces. We couldn't get the hood up to see the total damage. I think the whole engine compartment is toast as it caught fire (as you'll see later.)

Believe it or not, a couple of the GM engineers were there and told him that since it was an 09 and because he had bought the extended warranty, GM will warranty it. They gave him their cards if the dealer has any questions.

Our other member had an 08 without warranty-he's SOL.

When I was racing go karts, one of the better drivers was Doug Manmiller. One of the better "good guys" I raced against. You raced him fair, you had a great race. Try to be dirty, Doug could spin you out and make it look like you did yourself :rofl:

After the races one Sunday, one of his competitors asked him to run his kart with a brand new motor he built himself. ( 5 hp briggs) Doug being a good guy said he would.

After about three laps ( 1/4 mile asphalt "road course"), the motor grenaded. It literally threw the rod out of the block. ( no oil at all will do that ).

One of the pieces of the connecting rod is laying in the grass, smoking. One of the guys walks over, picks it up, drops it immediately and says " That's hot" :funniest:

Dumbass got 2nd degree burns :slap:

I'm glad someone got to see inside/sit inside. Didn't see the car when I was at the Sleep Inn. First saw it Monday morning. Don't know why there is so much secrecy about the car. No one was around for the two days to explain /show the highlights of these models. So much for customer appreciation.
