EBT cards is the new welfare check. It acts as a debit card and keeps the folks on welfare from buying booze, cigarettes, and drugs. In Florida we have a huge problem with government money being used to purchase the above. The ebt cards are to deter it, but many just sell their ebts illegally for cash and so it anyways

My ex scum bag trash neighbors (21 of them in a 2 bedroom house) would sell their ebt $$ to get cigs or booze. Let the little kids run around naked as they bitched they had no money but always had cigs and booze and gas for their cars. None of them worked. :willy:

I once lived/ took care of a friends house for a few months while he was relocating for his new job. One of his neighbors knocked on the door and wanted to know if I wanted to buy gift cards/ ebt cards so they could get gas and cigarettes. I gladly shut the door in her face. If it was for food or clothes for their 4 kids. I would have asked for sizes and headed to Walmart or target and get those kids clothes and some decent snacks

This type of stuff makes me so mad I try to quit talking about it on occasion when it comes up in discussions.
I donate a considerable amount of time and money to helping folks who need it. I employee guys with little to no skills and teach them framing, trim work, drywall, painting, plumbing etc.
Some of them have moved on to make more money or start their own companies and others chose poorly and/or went down the wrong path.
Charity has always been 2 things:
1. abused
2. useful and necessary

I have also heard that they will go to the grocery store and purchase food items with their EBT card. Then, take those and sell them at 50ȼ on the dollar and use that for their drugs, cigarettes & booze.

This is NOT Charity. It is a government program that REQUIRES all taxpayers to support them.It was designed to support a group of people who will continually support governemt growth.
Charity is voluntarily giving to those YOU feel are deserving.
Why work when you can get it all for free?!

I mislabeled then. I know little to nothing about these type of gov programs.
For the most part, I see the abuse far more than otherwise. At least that's what I see at the grocery stores here.
I am in the industry and am in stores constantly taking pictures of our food sets.
I often see folks sauntering up to the register with their stamps and WIC crap only to walk out the door and into a $30k + vehicle.
Shit burns my azz to no end.

Welfare in all it's forms is a cancer eating at America. We survived for almost 200 years with out it and did fine. Yes some people suffered but the vast majority were helped by there Family, Friends and neighbors.
Once government took over it was no longer about HELPING people to get out of the rut but on how to make the Rut bigger so the governemt could increase its power.
