My youngest son and I went to the neighbors house tonight so my kid could play with his nephew. We hung out for a few and my friend got a call regarding one of our friends. The guy "Buck" his nickname of course was a good ol dude, but hadn't been heard from since Tuesday since his boss left him off at his place, and he had not been heard from ever since. Wouldn't answer door, phone calls, etc. He had grown up with my neighbor and had been a roofer for most of his life. Kinda one of those tough as nails old birds.
Anyhow, I wasn't going to let my neighbor ride over along just in case something was wrong. The landlady didn't have a key, so we told her we would Jimmy the door and figure out what was up. Tuesday was when he was dropped off, and no one had heard anything since which was completely abnormal. We jimmied the door, and the smell of death met us there. We walked back to the room where he hung out and watched tv, and he was graveyard dead, and according to the cops had been that way for 36 hours at least. It was a bad sight. he was swollen, purple, blue, just name the color, but he died on his own in his chair. It was a tough sight to see. We walked out side, made the appropriate calls and the cops and the meat wagon showed up. He had some demons as in liking to party too much, etc. But dammit, he was a good old dude and I respected him. He would have been 60 this fall. My young kids liked him too, and I'm fortunate they didn't have to see him that way. We are very sad, but some things happen for a reason though. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Buck Buchanan.:sadangel: It won't be the same without him around.

You could almost say that. He had some drug problems. We had tried for the last few years to get him to stop or at least slow down, but that just wasn't him. He was going to live how he wanted to the very end, and well, he did just that. He was a good person, but there was just nothing we could do about his habits. Not like we didn't try. He was 59 yo.. May he rest in peace.:sadangel:

Holy Lord, almighty and eternal God, hear our prayers for your servant Buck Buchanan, whom you have summoned out of this world.
Forgive his sins and failings and grant him a place of refreshment, light and peace in Your marvelous presence.
Let him pass unharmed through the gates of death to dwell with the blessed in light, as you promised to Abraham and his children for ever.
Accept Buck into your safe-keeping and on the Great Day of Judgment raise him up with all the saints to inherit your eternal kingdom.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen .

It sucks. At least he was found by friends, even though it is an image that will never leave my mind. His obit said he died Thursday, but as you know, that's just when the coroner calls it.
