I'm planning a "romantic" long 4th of July weekend trip to the Hill Country. I'll be ending up in Austin on Sunday, but thought about staying a night or two in Fredericksburg and perhaps a night in New Braunfels.

Thinking about hitting the Shiner brewery tour on the way out of town. So, suggestions on where to stay (prefer B&B's, not too outrageous on price). Also seeking suggestions on what to do. I'm considering winery hopping, but would like to do some other stuff as well.

Also, which of those cities are shooting fireworks on the 4th?

This isn't the one I was thinking of, my favorite one was on a big ranch, but I couldn't get the wife on the phone to get the name.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage.

When we were venue shopping, we looked at this place. It wasn't a good for for the wedding, but looked like an awesome place we'd like to go back and stay at. The fresh foods prepared by the chef looked and smelled amazing too.

There's a while wine trail you can hit out there, lots of great stuff to do and see (around, but not in the immediate area of the inn)

Karen and I wound up getting married at the hideout on the horseshoe....:: HIDEOUT ON THE HORSESHOE :: (http://www.stayandfloat.com)

The least romantic but...
And last 4th of July weekend we met up with a bunch of friends and stayed at the Meckel house there at Lazy L&L

This is the one I was thinking about.

BlissWood - a Texas Hill Country Bed and Breakfast - Cat Spring, TX (http://www.blisswood.net/)

The lady who owns it also runs a restaurant right there next to it, and the food is beyond amazing.

We rented a golf cart for the day, and just went all over the ranch.

We stayed at La Escondida for our 1st anniversary. Really nice small B&B near Medina. Last year did Blair House Inn in Wimberley. Both great places.

We have enjoyed staying at the Hanger Hotel (http://www.hangarhotel.com/) in Fredericksburg. It is like walking into a 1940s movie.

I'm not familiar with that area so I can't help, but I would like to compliment you for using "romantic" and "brewery tour" in a single post.
