Les Miles will remain LSU's coach after talking with Michigan officials about the vacancy at his alma mater. LSU athletic director Joe Alleva released a statement Tuesday confirming that Miles will return for a seventh season with the Tigers. "I am pleased to announce that Les Miles will remain the head coach at LSU," Alleva said in the statement. "Les has led this program to many great successes on the field and his players represent LSU well off the field. We look forward to many great years of LSU football under his leadership." Miles met with Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon and other school representatives Monday night in Baton Rouge but did return with them to Ann Arbor. He reportedly met with Alleva later Monday. Miles is scheduled to speak at the American Football Coaches Association convention Tuesday afternoon in Dallas. Miles is 62-17 with a 2007 national championship in six seasons at LSU since taking over for Nick Saban in 2005. He has four years remaining on his contract at LSU.

National Championship is in NOLA this year, just in time for another run for the crystal ball.

That's cool and good for the SEC. After watching Sportscenter this morning, you'd have thought it was a done deal that Meechigan was buying Les's contract with the Devil

This is true, but the coonasses are still upset with the way many of the games when this year.

They are cut throat when it comes to football coaches. If he has 1 bad season he could be out on his ass.

I think Alleva (LSU A D) pissed him off this year, plus he played/graduated/coached at Michigan.

I'm surprised he's staying to be honest.

not sure, but they stated it would be/near what they offered to pay Harbaugh which was 5.2Mil

Haven't heard...

I heard it was more of an exam. Miles flunked when he couldn't pronounce "Arkansas" correctly.

I too, somewhat...he has a much easier road ahead at LSU with a richer talent base. It would take 3-4yr to turn Michigan around. He is on record saying his family feels at home in Baton Rouge, if true that may have played a part.

True.

Plus, Michigan's AD may be on thin ice.

Yep. LSU has a LOT of talent and probably the greatest talent base in college football. I believe better than Texas.

:iagree:

Louisiana is a small state, but with only one big "football" school all the best talent goes to LSU. Not nearly as hard to recruit here as it would be at Michigan or other states where there is more competition for local talent.

And what god loving Louisiana boy doesn't want to play football at LSU? I have been a fan since the '80's and I have lived in Arkansas ALL of my life.

I'm not. Michigan is not the job it once was. You're going to have to rebuild a defense plus possibly an offense. You have alumni who have totally unrealistic expectations for their program (as it sits now). The arrogance of Michigan fans is amazing - everyone up here is talking that it has to be a "Michigan man" who coaches the program next. One would hope that they would be brought down to earth after the two high profile coaches they wanted either didn't want the interview (Harbaugh) or only wanted the interview to use as leverage in their own job (Miles). They'll probably go after Hoke next at SDSU, and he'll be gone in three years.

FWIW, I live in Big "counting isn't our strong suit" 10 country, and really don't give a crap about any of the teams - it's just amusing to see the fans melting down...

 I didn't go to LSU, but was always a fan. Had a bud go there in the 80s and play QB so I raelly started following them after that.

The wife and all her people went there and daughter wants to go there.

We really endeared Louisiana after a sharp shooter from Ruston named Scottie Thurman dumped one in from downtown to beat Duke in the '94 NCAA finals.
