WTF exactly does hash tag mean anyway?

In the Twitterworld, it actually has a purpose. It works like a search feature to direct you to tweets on a similar subject. On facebook, I see it as a lame approach to make others think you are social networking literate.

WTF exactly does hash tag mean anyway?

Us old folks refer to it as the pound sign or pound key, as in "please press the # sign for English, para Espanol, marque 2."

Actually - Facebook has enabled the #hashtag in order for people to search and link to posts that your friends have similarly tagged.

Twitter has more value and use than Fakebook, IMHO.

I have no use for fakebook either.

Twitter is like VB but in real time.

Good source for up to date news and current/breaking events. :yesnod:

Presuming you follow all that I guess.

Twitter is a big waste of time, something that can chew up your day as you - squirrel-like - bound from one nut of "news" to another. It's like reading the first sentence of every internet post, except with mangled grammar and obtuse abbreviations made to keep the entire Tweet under 140 characters.

It has as much appeal to me as does reading Tiger Beat or listening to Justin Bieber's music.

If you want to get an idea what Twitter is like, all you have to do is load up VBOT's main page and mouse over each thread title. The little box you get that shows the first bit of content of that post is like a Tweet! See? Isn't that amazing technology?
