LiveLeak.com - If you grew up in the 50's, 60's, 70's, or 80's, then be grateful!

I grew up in the 50's and 60's. We learned from our parents and on our own and had fun doing it.:cert:

I lived in a few of those decades, but don't think I've grown up yet. Am I going to be OK?

Hell, I know I'm not grown up yet, and I don't want to be.

I may be in my late 40's, but growing up???? What the hell fun is that? I have a stable job, and am raising 2 boys. Like most, I have a house payment, and other regular type bills. My investments aren't doing too bad, well, assuming the whole shithouse doesn't go up in flames which is highly likely.

I used to ride on the package trays in the window area of a car, the bed on a pickup truck, and all over hell and back on motorcycles. With the exception of riding in the package tray area in a '69 Buick Skylark with my Uncle at the wheel, the other stuff is still fair game. I do however want to thank the .gov for telling me to buckle up in my truck. I sleep better at night knowing that all their rules "keep me safe".

My parents house had loaded guns everywhere, and I knew better than to F with them, or my Dad would have kicked my ass. I could handle them anytime I wanted if he was supervising me, so it wasn't worth getting my hide tanned.

I put thousands of miles on bicycles, busted my head a few times and still have a functioning brain.....well, Ms.Gem might disagree, but I do have a few brain cells left that actually work.:D

Our whole country has been pussified to the point that if my Dad, who has been dead since '78 came back alive, he would be like WTF!!!!! Now we are too worried about someone getting butt hurt over the slightest little thing. Get over it sissies, life ain't perfect. If you got hurt at someones house, well your parents took care of you ie:to the Doc etc. You didn't sue your neighbor.

There is a reason our country is all to crap, and all you have to do is look around. The video hit the nail on the head!!:seasix:

(said many wise things)

:iagree: I miss that package tray bed...or laying in the back seat stretched out, no shoes, eating candy and reading comics on a long trip.

I rode my dirt bike in the street with no helmet, license, tags...I was 12.

Played hell in the woods...built sadistic traps for squirrels (that never worked)

Got in fights that didn't result in lawsuits.

Got hurt in public, picked myself up and took care of it at home, no need for an ambulance or a lawyer.

And the only thing all those dangerous things did to me was make me half crazy. So, I came to VB to finish the job :D

I disagree. Blame the parents and grandparents for voting for the nanny state we have today, and for putting up with the litigious society we have become. Blame the jurors that thought it was a good idea to award Stella millions because she put a cup of hot McDonalds coffee between her legs while driving, for example. The kids are victims in all this. They didn't vote for seat belt laws, for helmet laws, for car seat laws, etc. We did.

(And by "we", I mean pretty much everyone besides the 6 libertarian voters who say no to any kind of Big Brother, but who seem to never win elections)
