I'm working out a deal with my friend Woodtick Greg to get you one of his round carbide insert hollowers for use with your new wood lathe. :seasix:

When one of my co workers moved down south, he gave me some tooling. I'm trading some of that tooling to Greg for one of his handmade wood turning tools. You'll need to make a handle with a 1/2" hole to epoxy in the handle in place.

You make some nice items that get auctioned off, so I'm getting you a quality wood working tool :toast:

It'll probably be a week or so before I get the tool in my hands. We literally just agreed a few minutes ago and I have to gather the tooling to send to him in MI.

lets you get inside a bowl much easier and deeper than straight tools. so you can have a bowl mouth smaller than the inside of the bowl. somewhat like a water bottle has a smaller mouth than the inside diameter. you can 'reach' behind the rim and get a nice smooth cut.

Hey Jeff, I got the hollowing chisel done, I'll get it packaged up and shipped on monday, then I'll get you a tracking number. It will be in a round tube and shipped fed ex. You can give the recipient my email addy if he has any questions, I give lots of advice on these tools as they are different than a standard hss chisel and there is a learning curve to them. They really like high turning speeds, the tool should only set on the rest on the wide part of the tool. These tools are designed to be epoxied into a long hardwood handle, 18" or more, shank is left rough for the epoxy to stick to and sized for a 1/2" hole. You can forward this info to him or just give him my email addy.

DAB makes nice stuff that gets auctioned off to benefit various charities of his choosing. That's the entire reason for this gift. If you wish to throw the money angle around, I can put you in contact with Greg and you can purchase a different style of carbide insert lathe tool for DAB.
