Back in the 1980s a buddy of mine and I had a used car parts business that made us at least $500 each per month. This was pre-internet, so we advertised in Hemmings and the mags of the car clubs we belonged to. Our ad looked like this:
"1,000 of rare cars being dismantled! 60's Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Challengers and Chargers, other Fords, Chevys and Pontiacs, even convertibles! Newer cars as well. Write or call us, and we'll let you know if we have what you need and the price."
We didn't have a single car. But we did know of several junk yards that had these cars. When we got a request, we went to the junk yards on Saturday and priced the part, which was almost always a lot less than what we'd sell it for. No overhead, no inventory.
Ahhhh...those were the days! Your side line?
