Story Here (http://www.kare11.com/news/article/1025345/391/Minneapolis-shooting-2-officers-hurt-suspect-dead-motorcyclist-killed-in-crash)
Cliff Notes:
MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis police say a suspect is dead after a shootout that injured two officers. The shooting happened after a traffic stop in Uptown on Friday afternoon. The officers were in stable condition but the male suspect was dead.

Meanwhile, a police squad car responding to the shooting scene collided with a motorcycle with a man and woman riding it. The man was killed and the woman was injured.

Does the end justify the means? Is it OK to put everyone at risk in a situation like this? I'm undecided.

We have had a few local cases similar to this over the years. The cops pursued a guy on a HD that wasn't wearing a helmet and wouldn't stop. He ran a traffic light and was hit by a truck. Killed instantly, and hurt the guy in the truck. He had no criminal record. The roads near my house are old small country roads. They were chasing a car through here one time at 90mph. Anyone walking, pulling out of a driveway, coming the opposite direction, etc...during that chase would have caused a serious accident. I don't think they should be allowed high speed pursuits for traffic violations.

This GSP officer was sentenced to 2 yrs.

really depends on the situation....units responding to a call about gunfire exchange between police and suspect is a whole hell of a lot different than trying to pull a biker over for not wearing a helmet. From what I understand a lot of PDs now have either official or unwritten rules that say no high speed pursuits unless it is one of a specified offense or situation

If the bike is a Harley, it will not surprise me if they claim the rider on the bike couldn't hear the officer's siren due to loud pipes, relieving the PD of responsibility.
