I want an AR-10 chambered in .308 so I can also shoot the 7.62 rounds. The reason, I have the opportunity to have a good friend teach me the finer points of hunting and the .308 is the perfect round according to him (Deer, hog, etc..)

Now, i like the AR platform as it's comfortable and what I've been used to shooting int he military. I have a Red Jacket AR-15 (M4) chambered in 5.56 which has only had about 300 rounds put through it that I'd be willing to trade since I don't have much use for it other than going to the range.

Do you all think it's worth trying to trade that off with somebody to get an AR-10?

You can always try, but no way would I let an ar-10 go for a .223

5.56 ;) I jsut have no use for the weapon. Now, I could buy one outright and keep the AR-15, but I'm not sure I want to, to tell the truth.

You missed the best opportunity to get rid of the AR15 a few months back. You might be able to get into a S&W M&P-10 for a decent price and they seem to be somewhat available compared to others. I just got my LMT MWS a few days ago. I ordered it in November. I've heard that current lead time is over a year for them, but I haven't confirmed that.

I'd buy your AR-10 outright and sell the Ar-15 :yesnod: You can try to trade with somebody, but I suspect you'll come out ahead if you can pay retail or less on a 10 and sell your ar-15 for whatever you can get for it. BTW magazines are impossible to come by for AR-10's right now. I've got 20 more on back order and no idea when they'll show up.

I'm going to be another one for the Springfield M1A. I have one in a birch, Vietnam era M14 stock and it is off the chain. Gun is a new M1A loaded placed in that, and it is an absolute beauty.

I've got the LWRC REPR. Love it. Best part is I can go from 16" to 20" barrel in seconds.
