Today is the 2nd anniversary of the tornado that killed 54 people and destroyed 12% of Tuscaloosa. I am so thankful that my youngest son survived. I can still hear his voice in my head and remember exactly what he said when he was finally able to call me. Extra prayers today for all those that lost loved ones.:sadangel:

That is where my son was working as an outside contractor, Tamko roofing. It was a huge warehouse type building. The part that was left standing was a storage closet in the warehouse. My son said they were running for their life into the area where the white door frame is. One guy, Trey, ran into the wider door opening, Kevin dove into the opening with the white door frame and Scott, who at one point was holding onto Kevin's shoulders as they were running, was sucked away from Kevin. Kevin saw Trey catch Scott by the leg as he was off the ground and being slammed into the wider door opening. My son Kevin and Trey were not injured. Scott had a concussion, cuts, bruises, sprained back. Kevin could not hear well for several days.

Local news has been showing clips where it went through Ringold, GA. It wiped a good bit of it. We still and will forever have scars from those and the recent ones. I remember watching the weather 2 yrs. ago. Super storms...one right after another coming through.
I've been close enough to hear that 'freight train' sound of wind. Damn scary.

Two-year anniversary of the Joplin tornado is coming up next month (May 22nd) and I'd be happy to snap some "progress" pics.

I think of Joplin too. There were men from Joplin working here at Tamko roofing when Joplin got hit. Last year there was a story on the news comparing the progress between Joplin and Tuscaloosa.

April 27 was a LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG day here in Alabama. We had an F4/5 just 4 miles away, less than 1/2 mile from several friends.
People are STILL jumpy when thunderstorms come through or the weather radio goes off...

I remember that one. We're officially in tornado season here in the Ohio Valley, too, Lisa John. Scary stuff.
wow - so glad he was okay......tornadoes scare the crap out of me. Been close to them hitting before (couple houses down) and that was close enough. That is one thing in this world I'd like to do without.
