I drove across FL from Ft Myers to PSL yesterday and I listened to NPR. Over an HOUR of how great SNAP was. All these losers coming on and saying they were so happy they could get food stamps.
In every Case except one the people were making bad decisions and WE the People of the USA had to pay for their F**K ups.

Here's one of the better looks at what went wrong. The guy's a bit of a smartass, but he's got the basics of the problems down. If you get sick of him, forward to about 11:15 to get a summary.
Detroit's death spiral breaks my heart. So many good people lost everything, including hope for the future. I just hope the lefties see Detroit as a lesson about excess...

That is a real problem. Everything that's legal is regulated to the point that it costs money. Without money the only things left are illegal activities. Detroit is what ordinary people call "being in the wrong place at the wrong time". To liberals it's a paradise, the perfect excuse to enact more regulations and steal ever larger sums of money.

The sad part is we have 3000 years of human history that proves their philosophy of bigger more activist governments are always a failure. Yet they keep trying.
Governments job has to be limited because government itself is corrupt in any form. Making it bigger and more intrusive in it's citizens activities always take more from the governed and corrupts the government even more.

The conservative money grubbers caused that predicament, by sending all the jobs off shore and putting all the people out of work! And the unions or liberals priced the labor force out of the global picture. So the question is....who's greed came first? :confused5:

In case you haven't been paying attention for about forever, "conservatives" don't hold some sort of a headlock on the "money grubber" namesake. As a matter of fact, there are a bunch of really big corporations who contribute pretty much exclusively to leftist progressive causes. GE comes to mind. Apple. The list is endless.

I think the common theme is that relying on the government to save or create is what causes such decay. Government by design is inefficient and costly. For the government to build anything is at least twice the cost of the private sector.

No pride, no respect. It's disgusting. What kills me is libs who keep voting the same as their city/state goes down the shitter. Much like here in IL. Same libs ruining the state year after year but yet promising to fix all the chit they've fecked up over the last several years. :banghead:

I guess some of us take the destruction of our country a little more personally than others.
I happen to find the real life results of Liberal politics revolting, and applaud anything that exposes it for what it does.
I'm not rejoicing over the suffering it causes, but I don't mind bringing it up over again. Doing so brings to light the cruel result brought on by more and more people becoming dependent on a government that cannot begin to afford to take care of them without borrowing money or printing more of it out of thin air... on a scale that is entirely unsustainable.
Thomas, how about focusing on what the policies are doing to our fiscal insolvency and to the people of cities like Detroit... rather than harping on someone for what you perceive as meanness or gloating at their suffering? Ever consider that point of view?

The reason for the challenge to Chad is this; He consistently posts crap he's snagged off the internet that casts Liberals and Obama in a poor light. We ALL get it. This POTUS is terrible. Liberals have gone much to far and their policies suck. Hell, even I agree with this, and I've got a Liberal side to me.
So from where I sit it all looks like one back slapping party for Chad. I suppose validation feels good.
But honestly? NOBODY here with the exception of maybe Cooool disagrees with him. So what's the point? Is there ANY chance of changing Coool's mind? Doubtful.
To put a nice fine point on it? Debate is GREAT. I jump in often enough. But posting the same old recycled shit? Not so much. ESPECIALLY when NOBODY disagrees.

Not at all the case with Detroit, the city. Detroit, the expanded metropolitan area and suburbs, yes. The city, no. Racial tensions/riots in the 60s and the subsequent white flight led to the demise of the city (and the boom of the suburbs) despite the auto industry booming at the time.

Michigan has a law on the books since 1990 (Google "Michigan PA 72") that permits the governor to appoint a review panel to assess a financially troubled city. That city's management must comply with the information requirements and demands created by the review panel.
If the panel determines there is an emergency with no viable recovery plan in place, it can recommend the governor appoint an Emergency Financial Manager. The decision is the governor's alone and the troubled city administrators have no ability to countermand the governor's decision.
Detroit and 5 other Michigan cities are under emergency supervision by appointed Emergency Financial Managers. The EFM is able to hire, fire (except for elected officials), lay off, reorganize departments, renegotiate union and supplier agreements, etc., etc. He is required by law to identify and report criminal activity on the part of current or past city administration officials. Basically, the EFM is empowered to do whatever it takes to get the municipality solvent within an 18-month span and name names if malfeasance is discovered. The EFM reports directly to the governor.
It's tough medicine. More states should have this law on their books...
Oh well, at least we get some great photography...
