Hagel cites evidence of chemical weapons use in Syria - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/25/world/meast/syria-civil-war/index.html#cnn-disqus-area)
(CNN) -- (CNN) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Thursday that the United States has evidence that chemical weapons have been used in Syria.
This comes a couple of days after an Israeli intelligence official said Damascus was using weapons banned under international law against its own people in the country's civil war. Syria has said rebels have used chemical weapons.
U.S. President Barack Obama has said the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons against its own people in the country would be a "game changer."
Chemical weapons frightful, relatively inexpensive
lets see here the last time someone told a US President that someone had WMD's it was a major F up on his part to move on it.

Could be the intel is a lot stronger this time. What I recall Colin Powell presenting to the U.N. back in the day was sketchy at best, threadbare at worst...

*Placing tin foil hat on my head*
We do the same thing, we just make it appear civilized. Read the ingredients of our grocery stoore food and ask commercial beef/pork/chicken ranchers what ges into their livestock. Check the "acceptable" levels of toxins in our water. The list goes on.
Oh, and SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE !!!!

We would hope so for the countries sake. If Obama moves on this do they take away his Nobel Peace Prize he was given just for being elected the first time?

kinda like how most of the terrorist ties to the recent and planned attacks have all been from Iran?
So the Syrian government is behaving badly, internally. How is this my problem. Let the other Arab countries that actually border Syria handle it. Not my neighborhood or my problem.

Would you have felt the same about the Jews in 1942 Europe?
The reality is there is no good outcome for the US in Syria. The government and the rebels are both assholes.
We should however, make Syria an example of what happens when a government uses chemical weapons. I think an appropriate response would be about two dozen cruise missiles aimed directly at the chemical storage facilities. That would at least keep them from being used again by the government or taken by rebels and sold to extremist for deployment in other countries.

And when the cloud of chemical weapons that is released from that strike floats across populated areas and kills or injures hundreds more Syrians the whole world can scream as one about how evil the US is.
Brilliant!

Eh, Obama has been running guns through Turkey to Syria, that's one reason for the Benghazi debacle. That and the 20,000 ground to air missiles we *oopsied* and let fall into the hands of Al Qaeda & Co. under this despicable administration.
