Obama thanks Putin for help in Boston

President Barack Obama spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday evening and thanked the Russian leader for unspecified cooperation in the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings.

As law enforcement officials surrounded the Watertown location where 19 year old suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was suspected to be hiding, the White House released a read out of the Obama-Putin phone call, which referenced the United States and Russia working together on the Boston bombing issue.

"President Putin expressed his condolences on behalf of the Russian people for the tragic loss of life in Boston. President Obama thanked President Putin for those sentiments, and praised the close cooperation that the United States has received from Russia on counter-terrorism, including in the wake of the Boston attack," the statement said. "The two leaders agreed to continue our cooperation on counter-terrorism and security issues going forward."

National Security Staff Spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden told The Cable the White House won't say what kind of cooperation the Russians provided.

"We'll decline to provide further details at this point," she said.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan, who was killed Thursday night, were of Chenyan ethnicity but hailed from the Russian region of Dagestan and spent several years living in Kyrgyzstan. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev became a naturalized American citizen on Sept. 11, 2012.

The Russians have been battling islamic terror for FAR longer than we have, by about 100 times....all along those oddball named 'stans' along the southern Russian border are islamics, who have been capturing, torturing, killing non islamics like MAD.....

So any Russian leader would be on our side battling islam....

Chechnya is a particularly BAD hot spot for inbreeding islam terror....

I guess I don't get the outrage. He thanked him for counter terrorism efforts, and probably provided a lot of info about the kid's family and travel history to Russia.

There's gotta be video out there somewhere of him throwing the flash bomb and running in after to make the collar.....:hat:

1) Americans are smart enough to know that the Boston area towns' SWAT and PD's were the real hunters, and the ones who caught those bastards.
2) If it gives the US good PR with Russia, I have no problem if Obama thanked Putin.
3) The multi-agency cohesion and cooperation was phenomenal in catching those scum. Everyone involved deserves credit, and if Putin helped, he deserves credit as well.
3) Boston area residents were totally amazing, and were instrumental in catching the scum, and giving LE room to operate.

At the administration's eagerness to pat it's own back, while wallowing in the usual vagueness.

Yes, yes, we all know the fearless leader was right on top of the situation, as usual. No need to remind us. Obama kinda reminds me of Alice's Restaurant:

I want tell you about the town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where this all happened here, they got three stop signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars, being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to get in the newspaper story about it.

I'm with you. The OP HATES this administration. He'll find anything he can to discredit it.

Ironic, this administration is managing to do a fine job of that themselves.

So to recap. Curious George thanks Putin. Therefore, CG is patting his own back.
