"As I enter my driveway from the main straight, I find my brake point and start my turn-in, rev match to heel toe and downshift into second. I have to late apex to avoid a huge depression where a tree stump was paved over that is rotting out. As I track out, throttle in and head towards Turn 2, I tap the brakes to settle the nose as it has become an off camber bank due to a sinkhole that is pulling the pavement downhill. Once on the straightaway again, I have to lift off the throttle to keep the rear tires from getting loose from a huge seam. There is a surface change from an additional section and a poor transition leading into the uphill before pit lane. I think with a smoother entrance off the main straight, an on-camber turn and smoother transitions, I can keep up the momentum and carry more speed through that section until I get to pit-in."

I was getting estimates in the $12,000-$14,000 range to tear out the old asphalt, dig out some stumps and sink holes, re-grade, binder, compact and re-pave. I had $7,500 in credit or 2,400sq ft. I ended up having about 2,900 sq ft of asphalt, its about 160' long and wide at the end.

How much to pay off the cops?

I think that was about $450. Total with police, permit and overage was about $3,000. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get it done so I had to fork over the extra cash.

I live on a narrow back road with blind corners. The truck and trailer blocked 60% of the road so they deemed it necessary when I pulled the permit. MA is one of the few states where flaggers are not allowed and all road detail work is done by police, both local and state.
