But this time we have an alarm system with video cameras :seasix:

When the alarm is tripped, first call goes to the local police and then the VP is notified. The VP pulls out his smart phone, logs onto the live video feed and sees somebody literally going in thru the wall above the cinder block ( 8' up )

He calls the local police with his wife's cell and gives them "play by play" on what's happening as they arrive.

The police caught two of the three and have the name of the third ( he might be in custody by now ). :hurray:

I suggested to the VP that we follow Vlad the Impaler example and put their heads on pikes at the end of the driveway as an example. :D

He said he liked the idea but would have to get back to me

:yesnod: Cameras work well in low light conditions plus the DVR holds a month worth of video from the cameras :D

Sounds like a success story! Do the police think these ne'er do wells were responsible for the other break ins? Too bad they didn't have an accident with some of your machinery......a fatal accident.

Depending on how the "good cop/bad cop" interrogation goes, they may have a quite a few more leads to check out.

These are not the sharpest tacks in the box. After the first break in, we padlocked the electrical box on the saw and crane so the brainiacs used the oxy acetylenes torch to attempt to cut the copper stock

that didn't work well

Should have asked the cops to "take a walk for 15 minutes" to let you and the boss "talk" to them for a minute

Modern-day equivalent of heads on a pike: Blow up their mug shots pictures and post them outside your building with the caption "Thank you xxxx Police Department - caught while breaking in!"

Make 'em big enough to see from the road. Scares off other bad guys and gets you points with the LEO's. :cert:

It would be funny to ad lib a bit while on the phone.

"Hey... looks like Joe showed up... wait, he's starting up the backhoe... That thing is surprisingly quick for a big piece of equipment... Uh, oh, he has one of the perps cornered... OOOOHHHH!! Gross! We're never going to get that stain out of the concrete... Oh, looks like Joe is on the trail of the second guy now..."

Once upon a time…
I was the CFO for an aviation training school, and we kept a safe in my office, behind three locked doors and up a flight of stairs. Two of the students working on their AMT’s thought they would take the easy way and break in the office into the safe on a Sunday evening. They broke in the hangar, in the locked storage, pulled a full size oxy acetylene rig up the stairs, through the doors and into the office. It was a 10x10 room with no windows, etc. They used the torch to cut into the safe (fireproof, must have taken them three hours) and got all of $49.50. There was a layer of soot an inch thick all over the room when they were done.

The police dusted for prints, etc., but I told them just to find out which students did not show for work or class, as they were going to be very sick from breathing all the fumes. They checked, followed up on all the absences, finding the geniuses sick at home. Figures, they were C students…
