Bloomberg Business Week has an interesting profile on the Disney acquisition of the Star Wars Franchise, wherein George Lucas sheds a bit of light on the possible return of the main Original Trilogy cast for the Sequel Trilogy...
We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.
Not too hard to guess which way the negotiations went, considering all three of the main cast have basically said "yes" in public.
But... none of them are supposed to be talking, which is why, for the second time since November, Carrie Fisher has apologized and said "I was kidding" about saying she was coming back, earlier this week.
Disney obviously intends to make a massive event out of announcing the return of the main gang.
