Put your responses BELOW THE TEXT YOU ARE QUOTING... not above it.

:nono:

Otherwise you make a complete mess of what you're trying to put out there. The clusterfukk gets even worse when you use the multi-quote function for several different people's posts.

The following is what it looks like to the rest of us whenever you do that....

Why did the chicken cross the road?

It was stuck to the tire of my truck.

It was running from Colonel Sanders.

It was stapled to the back of a weasel.

These read much better.

Quite a few CW battles happened out of fear of the telegraph lines being cut. Pretty much, the ENTIRE Atlanta Campaign of 1864. Johnston feared Sherman would flank him and cut off the communications and railroad from Atlanta. The Atlanta Campaign, was entirely a series of flanking movements and battles from Resaca to Atlanta.

Gettysburg was similar. Gen. Lee had plans/orders to get between the Union army and Washington, DC. They could have negotiated an agreement to end the war, if successful.

If I put some thought into why I do it. I can only think the reason might be something to do with email. When you reply to an email...don't you start at the top ? If you reply below the text in the email...doesn't your response get lost in there ?

With a forum message board, people are already scrolling down through the text. They read in one direction and get the chronological order of the dialogue in one pass.

When you do your thing, people have to jump backwards and forwards when they read your posts (and try not to do it when they read others' posts).
