View Full Version : Well I finally got my bass boat.

I bought a 1998 Triton TR-18 with a 2.0 150 Mariner on the back of it. 80 lbs Minn Kota Fortrex on the front, and a big thank you to GreenEnvy for hooking me up with the owner of this boat, and made the purchase possible!
I have wanted my own bass boat since I started fishing for bass about 10 years ago. I finally have my own.

Sweet ride man, but I'm pretty sure the flake in the paint isn't big enough for it to be considered a true bass boat...

I learned this the hard way, but always be ready to take donations to the "gas fund" from passengers, even suggest it! You'll burn through a hundred bucks at least for a days running. Unless of course they're girls opting for the 'sans top' package!:D

We launched my brother's 260 cabin cruiser and I was parking the truck and trailer I see him dive off the back of the boat. He said, "I heard this sound like a horse pissing and realized I left the plug out".

Bearings are under $15 a hub set. $30 plus grease lets YOU know the exact condition of the bearings.
The rollers and bearing races should be "chrome shiny". Any areas that are dull (grey) means there is wear. Cheap insurance :yesnod:
Do you have your USCG safe boating cert? I get a 10% discount on my boat insurance from State Farm with it.
Whether you have a motorcycle or not, I would suggest joining the AMA since they offer road side assistance , including trailers for $39 a year.

I have a Louisiana boaters safety card. Required if you are were born after 1984. Bearings are cheap, I just have to bring them to to work and buy them ;) (20 percent discount)

Next purchase, if you don't already have one, is an auto-inflate life vest. The auto-inflates keep out of the way of casting and will save your life if you get bumped off the boat at speed. :seasix:
