I finally went to the dr about my back. She prescribed prednisolone. Anyone taken that for back pain?

I hope this thread is ok with C6.

Pain meds fukc me up bad. I feel like a crack head and start itching 24/7. That and they make me sick because i always forget to eat before taking them.

When ever i was on them i always got off them probably half way through the prescribed cycle. I'll deal with the pain..

Never had prednisolone in the past though.. Good luck.

Prednisolone makes me extremely irritable and VERY short fused.

It does work well but side effects vary depending on length of use.

Pred is a STEROID. As an asthmatic, I've taken it many times. It does cause mood changes and weight gain but it does reduce swelling quickly.

I hope they gave you a taper to come off of it.

Ive taken steroids. Something like 6 for 2 dayy 5 for 3 days, tapering off down to 1 on day 10. Side effects kicked my butt. Took 5 more days to get over it.

That's why I'm a little hesitant to take it. And I don't understand how it will help.

It's a dose pack, 6 pills total on day one and tapers down to 1 on the last day.

You can't just come off it cold turkey, Normally the program starts with 4, then 3, then 2, then one pill per day.

Just stopping is bad...

Been taking low dose (7.5mg) for about 13 years now as a immunosuppressant. I ASKED to go on Paxil because of the mood swings it causes. Luckily I didn't get the "Moon Face" some people get. I just started eating my weight in snacks for a while.

Is it as Dex Pac ? Thats what I had about 4 weeks ago. I'm not sure the results were worth the side effects. I was sort of desperate at the time.

It just says methylprednisolone 4mg dospak 21.

I took prednisolone a long long time ago and I thought I was going nuts before I finished it.

If you hated it before, you will hate it now. May need to ask Dr. for another option. I could possibly deal with it for 5 days but if its 10 days, no way I'd do it again. Literally took 5 more days to recover.

I was on 60mg of prednisone and tapered down from there. I had lots of energy and ate everything in sight but it did work great.

I hope it helps.:seasix:

If there is another option, please choose it.

Some know and some don't, but I'm 38 and have had multiple surgeries including three hip replacements. The primary cause was that drug.

Do not take it unless you have to do so.

Hoping you get better.

I thought they could also give a one time steroid shot vs. the pill regime ? I got a shot, when I had gout in my ankles. I think...steroids are for tissue inflammation ?
