Kids rewarded for good manners at Wash. restaurant
Posted: Friday, February 8, 2013, 2:29 PM
SEATTLE - To Laura King, her three children were acting normal while enjoying dinner at an Italian restaurant in their hometown in Washington state.
But staffers of the restaurant Sogno di Vino in Kingston were so impressed at her children's table manners that they thanked her kids and gave the family of five a bowl of ice cream.
It wasn't until King got home that that she noticed a $4 "well-behaved kids" discount on her receipt to cover the dessert. A friend posted a picture of the receipt on the website Reddit, and the story took off.
King's children are 2, 3 and 8 years old.
King says it's been entertaining to see all the attention her story has gotten, and she plans to dine at Sogno di Vino again soon.

That's great to hear.
Once when our girls were very young, we went to a local restaurant.
When we were seated, the look on the woman's face at the next table was, "Crap, look at all those rug rats".
By the time that older couple finished dinner, the woman came over and put her hand on Mrs. TG's shoulder and said
"Honey, I dreaded when you first sat down, but you have the most well behaved children I have ever seen.
You must be a great mother!"
The wife was beaming until I said, "It's the drugs, we drug the little curtain climbers when we go out". :D
Got a big kick under the table

My parents took us to restaurants often while growing up...doesn't matter if it was a 'fancy' restaurant or a casual one, we were expected to behave and exhibit good table manners every time. :yesnod: You didn't want to get 'The Look' from Mom or Dad.
It's too bad that this has become a rarity instead of being common nowadays...but it's great to see that there still are parents who actually 'parent' their children. Hopefully it catches on...
hey!! i behave when i go out to eat, and i don't get a discount. :kick:

I dont have a picture of it but saw a sign once that said "Unattended children will be given sugary soft drinks and a puppy":leaving:
Misbehaved kids are a reflection of the parents too - good kids, good parents.
We always expected our girls to sit at the table until it was time to leave, not run around the table and irritate the neighboring tables.
Good for that family. :hurray:
