cliffs: tired of smoking, bought ecig, best thing since hookers and blow, not really a smoking cessation product, lungs feel better, can get my fix where I couldn't with traditional cigs. Have been smoke free for 7 days now and loving the lung capacity and new found tastebuds. :)

Saw another post a few weeks back about ecigs and picked one up recently. Thought I'd pass on a recommendation and review on a ecig I purchased last week. I was out in LA the prior week and one of my friends had it and after trying it out, and liking it, I purchased one when I returned home. Its been a week now that I've been smoke free and my lungs are happier. There are a few other benefits I've noticed as well.
So I picked up a ProVari V2 - it definitely isn't anything like a normal looking ecig - its larger due to the increased battery, volts and ohm rating. I was told that this is what makes it a great unit because the smaller normal looking ecigs you might pick up don't have the power to vaporize well enough so it lacks to someone that is (or was) more than a pack a day smoker like me.
I was a bit hesitant because of the size thing but damn am I glad I got past it. It has performed above and beyond my expectations. It gives the feel of hitting a cigarette and the exhale of smoke (water vapor) but gone are the nasty carcinogens that I used to get from a real cigarette.
I received my unit last Thursday and thought I'd use it in conjunction with real smokes while I cut down to only the ecig. Not so...because as soon as I started using it I had no need for the real thing anymore. The real test was Superbowl weekend - as I was heading out to Vegas for Superbowl and staying for a few days. I normally run through a cartoon of smokes as I sit on the black jack tables for 7 hours at a time or hit up bars/clubs till all hours of the night. Happy to report that I used my new ecig the entire time and never had the slightest need or desire to flip back.
OK so here's the basics. The Provari is basically a large batter unit that you screw in a cartomizer or atomizer that you can put a e-liquid that contains flavorings plus nicotine. You can get the liquids in varying strengths and flavors. I was a pack a day smoker and chose the 18mg nic strength and it seems to be holding fine for me. I like the flavorings as well - although I think it makes me like ecig more because it has a pleasant taste. I've ordered some flavors like very vanilla, cinamon roll, blueberry and coffee...but there are literally hundreds of flavors and sites to order custom flavors from. Cost wise I pay roughly $9 for a 15 ml bottle of liquid that lasts me about 2-3 weeks. From a cost savings standpoint I'm pretty pleased. I went from paying $7 a day x 30 or $400 a month to about $30 per month in liquid. You'll also have the cost of an atomizer or a cartomizer.
The cartomizer will actually hold the liquid longer so you refill less...you kind of drip 30-40 drops into it to fill and screw it on the battery unit to use. Lasts for a few hours if you smoke about as much as I do. The cartomizers fun about $9 for a pack of 5 and last about 2-3 weeks if you take care of them. You can also purchase a tank that will hold 3-5ml of liquid and I'll probably end up investing in that soon.
So other than the obvious benefits of lower costs, no burnt clothes, not smelling like cigarette smoke, not freezing my ass off to have a smoke, not smoking up my car, increased lung capacity (because the only thing you are taking in is water vapor laced with nicotine) ... I had some other pleasant to report benefits. First is I could hit the thing just about anywhere without people freaking out I was smoking (there's no smell). It went through in my carry on baggage through security just fine. I puffed on it while sipping cocktail waiting for my flight out after I explained to the bar tender it was an ecig. I believe there is some regulation on using it on an airplane however after take off, with my seat partners fast asleep I was able to take a few deep puffs on it and hold it in a bit so the exhale wasn't thick. I kept it a bit covert as I didn't want to offend people or make people think I was smoking for real. Again, I wouldn't recommend using it full bore on the plane...but a toke here and there discreetly didn't seem to raise ire. My wife is happy I don't smell like an ashtray anymore either.
I used it everywhere without issue...bars, restaurants, etc. I would normally let the waiter or manager know that I had one and again be discreet about it if I was in a otherwise traditional non smoking area. If I had a distributorship for them I'd probably have made a mint in the airport or vegas as I was always being asked about it. Last but not least the company that makes them is American owned, operated and made in the USA.
They aren't cheap...but then neither is smoking. The starter kit was $211 and included a 5 pack of cartridges, 2 lith batteries, the unit itself and the charger. I spent another $30 ordered different flavors of liquid as well.
Here's a vid on it...their website is ProVape E-Cigarettes: Buy Electronic Cigarettes & Smokeless Cigs (http://www.provape.com) - feel free to PM with questions...it can be a little confusing on what to order.
