No closing shop, or running to the supermarket to clean out the shelves.
The only problem might be food delivery being a few minutes late.

Yeah. I forgot that it's no big deal up there.
Here in the PNW with all the hills and transplants from other parts of the
country, even an 1" brings everything to a stop.

I hear ya; growing up in Michigan was about the same. A foot of snow only caused us a 2 hr delayed opening.

The locals had a snowmobile gang that rode around to check on the elderly and ladies to make sure they were ok. :cert:

Since moving to PA, we make fun of the locals for their "french toast emergencies" where they run out to get milk, bread and eggs.

You should see it around here. There are so many grocery stores and convenience stores if it came down to it people could walk to get supplies. Nope you would think it was the storm of the century with everyone running around like idiots with only a few inches of snow predicted.:slap:

Yeah, folks aren't always wired correctly. If you're concerned about being prepared, don't run out and buy sheit that has to stay refrigerated and/or require cooking; both of which will likely not be options during the "super storm"

My area of NY is in the 12''-18'' range. Plow is on the full of gas 4x4PU and the block heater in the tractor is plugged in. We have plenty of food, gas for the generator (if needed) We are as ready as possible for whatever hits us.

It’s supposed to be about the same as i posted, a little less west of the river and possibly a lot more east. They are predicting that it could be (key work COULD) be much worst the more east of the Hudson River you go. New England is supposed to get hammered. Supposed to start light early in the morning and get going quite well farther along in the PM.

My roof top unit at the store is electric also. :sadangel:
After last years $450 a month bills I've rarely used the heat in here.
I get up at 4am and turn it on when the electricity is cheap, and then turn it off at 7am when it gets expensive.
At night it's 8-10 degrees in here and during the day around 16. :D
I've kept the bill right around $250 so far.

Plus I found a plug in the ceiling which isn't connected to my panel.
So I ran a heavy 14 gauge extension cable and have my space heater plugged in to it.

Since moving to PA, we make fun of the locals for their "french toast emergencies" where they run out to get milk, bread and eggs.
Scott

Just got back from the grocery store. Since I wasn't driving the cart, we have enough raw materials to make French Toast for the next 6 weeks.

Oh, and it's been snowing all morning. We've got maybe half an inch so far.

Any winter day that I can drive 60mph home from downtown is a good day for me...
So far this "storm" is a dud...
Much ado over nothing...
KP did not get 10" of snow... No way

We probably got between 8-12" so far. It's still snowing outside.

Significant snowfall of 20 to 30 cm today. Heavy snow continues as a major winter storm currently centred over New York State affects the regions today. General total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 centimetres are expected with snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour possible under the heaviest bands.
