Cliffs at bottom.

Our company spent $150,000 on three new vehicles in December at a dealership in town.

One of them is my new Explorer, which developed a fault in one of the sensors on the 10th of January, so I brought it back to them to fix. I was (eventually, after three business days) able to get the information out of them that they were awaiting a part that should be in on the 14th.

Then the 18th.

Then the 24th.

I finally raised enough Cain that the part was expedited and I got the Explorer back Friday (the 26th).

In the meantime, I was driving my F350 to work. In the middle of a monsoon I realized that the rear window was leaking. I couldn't drive anything else to work, so I had to put up with that for the following two weeks. When I got the Explorer back I dropped off the F350.

Today I get a call. "Has that truck had any hail damage repair?" It has, it got hit in the hailstorm that went through Knoxville in April 2010.

"Well whoever did it messed up and the back of the roof has a lot of rust, flaking, and metal loss that's letting the window seal leak."

Me - You did it.

"Uh-uh-uh well maybe your insurance comany can cover this."

Me - No, you can cover this, you messed up the repair.

"Well we can't warranty our repairs that long."

Off to small claims court!

Cliffs:

Dealer sold us three new cars.

Warranty fix took as long on one of them as from the time I got the truck to the time I brought it to them.

Now they want to get me to pay for their crappy job they did on my F350 in 2010.

Less than 3 years. Evidently once they get your money you get the shaft.

Did you call the GM of the dealership?

I couldn't believe you let them cut the roof off of your truck in the first place.

This is a great opportunity to have your truck converted into a convertible as well!

If they don't straighten up the owner will get the call.

If they don't straighten up, you should drive your train through their front window.

I think just the sight of someone running railroad track up to their front door might bring them to see things his way.

When the boss offers you a new vehicle and lets you pick it, if he "recommends" a certain dealer, one best bitch thee not. :-)

OK, we are good now. I called the salesman, told him the story, and reminded him about our recent purchases and the roughly $750,000 we have spent there in the last 10 years or so, and that I am slated to head the company at some point in the future.

Problem solved. :D

...and yet, look what happened.

The bosses choice of dealers doesn't look very good at this point

Tell me it wasn't Ted Russell Ford. They're normally a great dealer.
They do all of our deliveries for Knoxville :yesnod:

So what's problem solved? They'll warranty their work, or they've offered you a kick ass trade in on a new truck? :bigears:

Me too. Too bad it was over the phone. :D

The hail damage plus the tank of water that Rocky Top Markets sold me masquerading as diesel fuel probably both would show up on a CarFax so I am pretty sure no one is ever going to give me a "deal" trading that truck in.

When I want a new one I'll probably sell this one to one of the railroads to be converted to a HiRail.

Had almost the same thing happen once while on a conference call with Ford Fleet in Detroit.

We were voicing our concerns that vehicles for a very large fleet customer were getting reported sold too early (before the actual delivery date) that the warranty start dates were going to be wrong.

Some big shot at Ford then says to everyone on the call "Well. who the hell at your organization can't read a calendar to use the correct dates!"

I then informed Mr. Big Shot Douche-bag that since it was a major Ford Fleet customer, Ford didn't let the dealer report the sale, It was done directly by Ford in Detroit. :slap:

Ford's end of the phone call... <***cricket sounds***> A$$holes
