Any one else notice how a lot of TV networks are now running their programs a minute past the scheduled time or even scheduling shows a minute past the hour such as 8:01-9:01? I believe they are doing this to F with people with DVRs so you miss the end of the show or so it will cause conflicts with your DVR. Kind of a dick move like blasting the volume on commercials.

They are making huge $$ so why be petty and F with common guy?

I always thought it was to force you to stay on that channel since you'll miss the beginning of the ones that start on the hour. Either way it's a pain in the arse.

:iagree:

Also, new legislation was passed regarding the volume level of commercials. That should be stopping soon.

Today I set my DVR to record several series starting one minute before and ending one minute past the scheduled times for this very reason. I'll let y'all know how it works out later this week.

I've been doing that for over a year now. It works pretty well. Some channels are much worse than others for doing this.

I set mine to two minutes early and two minutes late. It didn't work as well with my old Tivo because it meant that two shows in adjacent time slots would effectively chew up both tuners and you couldn't record a second show in either time slot.

Now that my Tivo has 4 tuners, it's the only way around this BS.

Everything revolves around advertising.
I'm guessing it has something to do with squeezing in more commercials before, during and after each show to increase revenue.

An hour long show today is only 42 mins of actual program content.
A 30 minute show is only 22 minutes of program content.
For every 10 hours of programming, 3 hours are advertisements.

hmmmm?....I wondered why they were doing that! A few programns are running from the .05 minute mark to the 1.05 mark. Since I don't record them I never thought about it.:island14:
