Vacationing family finds 17-foot Burmese python in Everglades

A 17-foot Burmese python was killed by a park ranger after it wandered into an Everglades picnic area.
A family from Arkansas, vacationing in Florida, sent the video to WESH 2. Bryan Blount said they came across the python about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
His father, Richard Blount, took the pictures and video of the snake.
The park ranger confirmed it was a Burmese python and shot it with a shotgun.
Florida is holding a Burmese python hunting contest beginning in January.
A grand prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the person who kills the most pythons, and $1,000 will go to the person who bags the longest one
