View Full Version : What's a realistically attainable dream car that you want to own later in life?

Go.
*Realistically attainable refers to something you could see yourself affording in the future. Basically not a "I hope I win the lottery" type of car, but instead a "if I keep on track financially where I am now, I'm PLANNING on buying one of these one day"

Define "realistically attainable"...
I'd like to own a Lamborghini Countach LP400S built between 1978 and 1980, but the way values are going right now, it won't be realistically attainable for much longer.

You guys are aware that they don't actually have the ability to travel time... right? :D
There is a kid with one in town here. I say kid, I mean child. He's 20. Really nice kid, painfully shy, I talk him at the local Friday night cruise spots occasionally. Imagine Haley Joel Osment, the kid from The Sixth Sense, with ruthless acne, rolling a DeLorean and you've got it.

We've sort of got a plan, more mine than hers. When the non-retirement nest egg hits a certain number, we (okay, I) want to buy something cool, that's not depreciating, own it for a year or so, then sell it without much loss and own something else for a year or so. I'm thinking Viper, NSX, older Ferrari, vintage Vette, Esprit, Aston Martin, vintage Chevelles and Camaros. I've always loved the 70s and 80s 911 turbos.

What's a realistically attainable dream car that you want to own later in life?
That's kind of an oxymoron when you say dream and realistically attainable in the same sentence. BUT, if I had to pick one at the upper edge of affordability for myself, I would go for a resto-mod version of my own 62 Corvette roadster. C6 LS7 power and suspension. Yeeha!

No, not really. I dream about things that are attainable all the time. "Dream (insert word here)" doesn't necessarily mean something I can't have. It means something I'd love to have...and there are two kinds of "something I'd love to have". One is "I'd never buy that unless I'm worth nine-figures" kind of dream, and the other is dreaming about the day I'm planning on having it. :)
My first car was a 71. I have always wanted to get another one.
:seasix:
70-72....I'd take any from those years. :seasix:
Changed mine over to a 327 that my dad and I built, tilt wheel, center console with U-handle shifter, swivel buckets from a 75 Monte, 8" Rally's with 60 series all around, headers going into Cherry Bomb glass packs. Those packs were about as far away from the header as a catalytic would be. That sumbich was extremely loud. Had to add a set of Walker turbo mufflers farther down the exhaust to quiet it down some. :D
