His lips are moving so I know he's lying. :seasix:

To be fair, he does give a nice speech.

If he's so worried about the Chilllllren then he would do something about the debt.

Democrats will say it's good form for the President to give a speech at such an occasion.

Republicans will say he's using a tragedy to his advantage.

Both will be right.

Both will be right.

If he tries to bypass the Constitution, he should be impeached.

My first thought was he needed to STFU. I've completely changed my opinion. This is a national tragedy. As the POTUS, he should address the nation.

Yeah, he's a crummy POTUS, but he's also a father, and I don't doubt his sincerity one bit regarding this disaster.

Politics shouldn't play a role in tragedies like this. As POTUS, he's supposed to do these things and should.

Plenty of time for politics later.

If he bypasses the Constitution again, he should be impeached.

Tries?

Tries?

I guess it's time for the 49.99 % that didn't vote for him to stand up and demand impeachment proceedings start.

He took a curtain call, that tells me that, in his mind, it's still really all about him..

Bill Clinton and Reagan were the speakers. G-Dub and Oba-Mao have no business behind a teleprompter.

Obviously extemporaneous speaking was not his forte at Harvard. I can undertand Sunday's speech being written down, but did he really need the teleprompter Friday? Couldn't he fnd the words of out his heart to initially address the nation?

To be fair, so did Hitler.

And I disagree, the POTUS should not talk about it. His job is to uphold the constitution and nothing more. Anyone looking to an elected bureaucrat for guidance or solace is an ignorant fool. The exact kind of ignorant fool that elects these f'in demagogues.

:iagree:

The President of the United States is in all respects a creation of our Constitution. The position of President is created by Article ll. Sections two and three are the only place in the Constitution that define a President and his powers and duties. They consist of just 317 words which can be condensed to just twelve items of 129 words:

l. Be commander in chief of the Army and Navy when called into service.

2. Require the opinion of the principal officer in each executive department.

3. Have power to grand reprieves and pardons.

4. Make treaties.

5. Nominate and appoint ambassadors, judges of the Supreme Court and all other officers of the United States.

6. Fill up all vacancies during the recess of the Senate.

7. Give to Congress information of the state of the union.

8. Recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.

9. On extraordinary occasions convene both Houses, or either of them.

10. Receive ambassadors and other public ministers.

11. Take care that the laws be faithfully executed.

12. Commission all the officers of the United States.

That was my feeling as well. Though I could have done without the veiled threats against gun rights. There is a time and place to discuss policies, a memorial speech is not it. Still, I don't doubt the sincerity in the sorrow he feels for the loss of life :halfmast:
