I'm really glad that my mother insisted on all of us getting started on some instrument lessons as kids. I remember hating being seen with an accordion as a youngster, but that gave me the basics for all keyboards, and after I picked up a little guitar and trumpet on my own.

I had piano lessons for a year, but the teacher was a classical music background, and I had NO interest, wanted to play jazz....finally switched to a jazz teacher, but by then Dad dropped the class....oh well....
