My mother in law is a teacher at a very small school (k-12) in a very rural area. Some of her students vandalized her house over thanksgiving weekend (the day after we left). They put plastic forks in her yard, rolled a few trees, that I could chalk up to kids being kids. However they blew up her mailbox with some sort of home made bomb, and spray painted " **** You Bitch" on her garage and concrete driveway. Now, she can be stern in the classroom, but will bend over backwards for her students. She reported it to the sheriff, the postal service, and the school. None of them seem to give a shit. This area is so depressed that even the parents don't care. They know who the kids are because they've been bragging about it. It's about a 3 hr ride up there, what would VBOT do?

I've actually told her that several timesCall them on her behalf. Tell them she is terrified of retribution if she contacts them herself...

Explosives in the mailbox should be a Federal offense. If nothing is getting action, I'd call the media. After last week, they'll be on this like a duck on a junebug

:yesnod:

Mailboxes are receptacles designed for the delivery of personal or business mail and are considered government property (as opposed to personal property). Other than the intended mail recipient, the only other individual or entity that is permitted to access federally approved mailboxes are employees of the United States Postal Service. Intentionally vandalizing or causing damage to a USPS mailbox is a federal offense and can lead to financial penalties (up to $250,000!), jail time and hours of community service

25 years ago? I'd probably have confronted the parents EXPECTING trouble to ensue, and not really giving a shit.

Since you've already gone to the coppers, I suppose you can document all this with photo's, times, and dates and try again. Too bad you don't live closer.

Is your mother in law married?

Call the FBI. This isn't throwing toilet paper in a tree on mischief night.
