Local Landmark

Rules:

Must be taken this month and by you. If you want to do something creative with the pic...have at it. Just don't chop something into the scene that wasn't there to start with.

Have fun !

.....at this point, we should just make this an 'open' category.

I could claim the tooth fairy was holding me when I took the pic of the plane, but a slightly more truthful reply would be RIF and I missed part of the reading. :needcoffee:

If they want to post it is OK. We always will have the poll for voting at the EOM. At least we get to see more pics :D

Thoughts?

Did you take the train pic ?

Yep. Had just gotten back from a ride from Palestine to Rusk and back. They had the waiters pass out hot choc and Santa got on at Rusk and passed out Christmas bells to the kids.

I just haven't had the time to get anywhere this month - work, Christmas shopping, home at dark seems to be the routine. :(

Only shots I've done are the startrails and a few frosty macros.

A hospital room isn't much of a landmark. :slap:

Nah I like the landmarks idea. There's lots of potential for shots out there. Heck if I had the time I know tons of places around Houston I could get a shot.

Maybe narrow it down to public landmarks which anyone can visit. Not just someone's personal house or car.

Thoughts?

I have been working too much or it has been raining. I finally have a day off so maybe I can find something. :seasix:

But the nurses could be. :D

sorry, they had too much say over me being alive, so no pix.

Just a couple of miles from me.

New Echota is one of the most significant Cherokee Indian sites in the nation and was where the tragic “Trail of Tears” officially began. In 1825, the Cherokee national legislature established a capital called New Echota at the headwaters of the Oostanaula River. During its short history, New Echota was the site of the first Indian language newspaper office, a court case which carried to the U.S. Supreme Court, one of the earliest experiments in national self government by an Indian tribe, the signing of a treaty which relinquished Cherokee claims to lands east of the Mississippi River, and the assembly of Indians for removal west on the infamous Trail of Tears.

Today, visitors can see 12 original and reconstructed buildings, including the Council House, Court House, Print Shop, Missionary Samuel Worcester's home, and an 1805 store, as well as outbuildings such as smoke houses, corn cribs and barns. In the visitor center, guest can purchase souvenirs, books, music and view interpretive exhibits and a 17-minute film. The New Town Creek (1 mile) and Pond Overlook (.5 mile) nature trails lead visitors to Tarvin Branch Pond and New Town Creek overlooks.

Stretching the definition of "landmark," maybe, but a picture from the San Diego Zoo...
