Do the Marines get naval awards, too?

I dont know how you can go this long without getting a good conduct. If there is GC in there, its not a Marine GC.

Absolutely.

Officers do not get good conduct awards unless awarded as enlisted first.

Is there a reason for that?

Officers are supposed to se tthe example of good conduct and is demanded all the time. It's jsut like in the Army with us not wearing our marksmanship badges. We are supposed to be "experts" and who do you expect to lead soldiers if you are not?

He wasn't in the navy nor a pilot.

Paul Foster fits every damn one of those except the Flying Cross. He was a sub commander. Damn, this is a toughy and I'm not having any luck checking through Marines either.
I hate you, Norm. :funny:

I think, and therefore probably full of crap, that since he headed the SW Pacific area he had Navy reporting to him. Kind of like IKE in Europe, everyone reported to him, ergo he was entitled to the Navy hardware. :cert:
