Last month Micheal Bay's production company, Platinum Dunes, announced it would be producing Almanac, from a spec script by new-comers Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan. Directing is to be first-timer Dean Israelite, using the "found footage" format.
Today sources close to the production have leaked some alleged plot details. The film will center around a nerd, son of a deceased scientist, desperate to impress a hottie, discovers the ability to time travel. He and some friends decide to take a page from the book of Biff Tannen, and travel back in time to make use of an almanac of sports statistics in gambling.
Entertainment ensues.
It's either the greatest blatant rip-off in cinema history, or there's some sort of agreement in place here.
Will be interesting to see if the Back To The Future lawyers come flying out of the woodwork on this one...
