I was hanging some Christmas lights last weekend, struggling with my 6' aluminum stepladder when my neighbor stopped by. He offered me the use of his telescoping multi-position ladder and it worked great.
After I finished, I was motivated my to get one for myself. I did a little research and found the same model my neighbor had loaned me. Werner MT-22 (22') for sale at Lowes for $221... at Amazon, $159... a little more searching and I found it for $129 at my local Home Depot. Excellent ladder for a great price. :seasix: If you're in the market, check out HD. :seasix:

I use arrows. Attach the end of the string of lights to an arrow, along with a piece of strong twine, and fire away. Repeat until the lights are hung. After Christmas, pull the twine to dislodge the arrows (and lights).
I don't need a latter for hanging the Christmas lights. Hooks stay in the soffits, so I use a stick I made with a slot on the end.

That ladder looks like it does it all. Is it weight rated for us big guys?
We used to use old hockey sticks with a U cut into the top of the handle and hang our lights on the permanent cup hooks on the roof. Worked great for putting them up and down.

That's what I used to do until I took an arrow in the knee.

He could have saved even more by just bringing the neighbor a 6 pack every time he needs a ladder. That's a lots of beer, and chances are the neighbor would offer to drink it with the OP. I'd call buying another ladder a save big bucks fail.
I have a 40' ladder, and whenever any of my neighbors need a ladder, they just borrow mine....no 6 pack rental required.

And lots of things I shouldn't.

It splits into two ladders. All you need is a plank/scaffold piece.

That is the ladder I purchased after my dads 50+ year old aluminum ladder collapsed on me a little over a year ago. Hurts bad to fall from 6'...can only imagine falling further!
