Went to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run today and a Holley vendor was there.

Apparently I got a great deal on this new 670CFM Street Avenger carb as it shows $370.00 new from the Holley website :willy: Holley Performance Products 670 CFM Four Barrel Carburetor 0-81670 (http://www.holley.com/0-81670.asp)

I paid $250.00 for a new one in the box and the dude threw in some extra gaskets and wot-not to help with tuning. Now, let's see if it helps out my issues with the T-bucket running too rich and not being able to get past the springs with the cheap ass Edelbrock 650cfm carb I have on it now.

wish me luck....

I'm only getting about 5mpgs right now and I don't want to risk washing out the rings. This carb has always been an issue and the price was right so I had to go for it.

A 2000 lb car and only 5 mpg? :willy:

Hopefully the new carb runs correctly :seasix:

That had to be one rich bitch out the back.

1600lbs :funny:

It wasn't putting out any black smoke or whatever, but it just sucks down the fuel. The Holley rep said this 670 with the proper power valve (a 3.5 since we are pulling 8psi/hg? of vaccum in the intake) will take care of the issue.

You probably still need to pull the site plugs and adjust the floats once you bolt it on. Very easy to change the jets too. You can buy those blue reusable gaskets, if you wind up taking it apart a few times to re-jet it.

Got a few gaskets thrown in with the deal, too ;)

that's a great deal, what, about 200 less than list. I paid 240 for a 600 Holley 4150 style aluminum this summer that was a month old, and that was a fair deal as well. :seasix:

I run a 670 VS on the 327 in our 62. It's gone 12.14 in the 1/4 with it. It was rich at idle out of the box, and lean at WOT. Be sure to tune your idle mixture screws with a vacuum gauge.

If you aren't around 1 1/4 turns out on the mixture screws you'll be a little rich anytime you are running off the idle circuit. You can lean out your idle feed circuit, and it will do wonders for your economy. Holley Idle Feed Restrictor Mod - Ford Muscle Forums : Ford Muscle Cars Tech Forum (http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/induction-articles/475198-holley-idle-feed-restrictor-mod.html)

It's worth the time to sort it out. Our engine dyno'd at 490 HP (with a 750 HP carb and open headers), and gets 19 MPG on the HGWY.

BTW, if you're running a stock GM or aftermarket stock replacement fuel pump, your fuel pressure will be too high and cause idle issues and possible fuel puking out of the vent tubes.

That is what I was thinking. Edelbrocks, Holleys and Q-jets run different pressures. I had to dial mine down with a regulator to keep the motor from loading up at idle.

I'm going to buy a nice dual fuel line hook up today and will get a regulator while I'm at the shop.
