My uncle gave me this knife yesterday, that his uncle brought back from WWII. He called it a Gurkha kukris. Seems sort of awkwardly shaped to me. Anyone know anything about it?

It isn't worth anything. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly. I'll even pay shipping.

I have one, and I like the weight forward balance for chopping.
IMHO, they make a great camp knife.

True, but a WWII relic being used as a camp knife??
I'd keep that bad boy locked up, but under glass so's it can be admired. Plus, there's that whole "In Case Of Emergency, Break Glass" aspect to consider.
Must be from the CBI Campaign. My next door neighbor fought in that theater. He died last spring.

I can see that.
As a family heirloom, I agree .
Put it away.....:seasix:
Sometimes, you can pick one up, relatively inexpensive at a gunshow.
I'd go that route for a camp knife.

What do they go for at gunshows?

Depends on the age, condition, who it was made by.
I've seen them as inexpensive as $20, but I didn't know its age or anything.
Looked pretty beat up.
I'm not sure how collectable they are. :island14:

Really?? Wow. I had no idea.
If they're that cheap, next time you find one, grab it for me, ok? I'll pay shipping and reimburse you.
Or just pass it off to me the next time you make it down this way.

I still have three original 'Blood Chits' in my collection. One is paper, one silk, and the other leather. I also have a pretty rare book on them. It was custom printed and bound for the CBI Alumi Association. Has to be a thousand pages of pictures of members. It is dark blue with a large CBI patch embossed on the cover in silver. I've never seen another one like it.

And then summarily sell it for profit, like everything else in his stash lately...:D
Don't sharpen it, buff it, or do anything to it. It'll ruin the provenance.

There's a cool story on the net about a Gurkhas soldier returning home on a train when it was attacked by a horde of robbers. Although the soldier did sustain some wounds, he killed or seriously injured about 40 of the robbers.
