View Full Version : Help me with Christmas gift ideas...

For my daughter and my wife. I'm usually able to come up with good ideas, but this year I'm stuck. So far I have an engraved rosewood business card carrier for my kid (in anticipation of her passing the bar exam), a cute costume jewelry bracelet, and a box of Royal Riviera pears. Nothing yet for my wife. The way things work around my house is that we don't buy big, expensive gifts for each other, but we try to keep them out of the ordinary (I don't mean freaky). Daughter is 25, wife is 50.
If you don't want to put on your thinking caps, just tell me what you're buying, and I might pick up some ideas.
I'm getting a pacemaker!! :hurray:
Ok, maybe a little spendy for a humble country lawyer.

Money well spent IMO.
I'm kinda stuck with buying for my wife this year too...like you, nothing big. Last year she got a big gift with a Kitchenaid stand mixer...
Money well spent IMO.
Mrs. DAB said no to the hookers and blow idea. Also, I could chase the nurses, but it was catch and release only.
Guess I'll go with the pacemaker then.
Vette and tools will have to wait.

My offer to install the pacemaker for half of what the "real doctor" () will install it for still stands.
So long as you promise to not be a big baby, and don't be squirmin' all the time. And you supply all the parts and accessories at least a day ahead of time, so I can bench test everything. I like to have as little guesswork on the day of installation if you know what I mean.

How about this for the wife:
Amazon.com: pink bunny massager (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pink+bunny+massager&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Apink+bunny+massager&ajr=0)
and this for the daughter
Amazon.com: pink bunny (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pink+bunny+)
Just be sure not to mix up the packages...
Request they each start an amazon wish list.
That should take care of it.

A nice bottle of champagne or wine and a large selection of chocolate and favorite sweets. Look for other small things to stuff in there too.
Get a pretty flowerpot, put some tissue paper (or the colored strips of paper, both can be found at a Dollar Tree) in the bottom and fill in around the wine with the candy, gift cards and some fun bracelets. Let the paper poke up or flop over the sides.
Cut a big piece of wrapping paper and pull it up and tie it at the top.
Shows some thought and planning and that will make points as well as the gifts inside. :yesnod: More points if you also get a nice plant to put in the planter the next day, which means your thoughtfulness is on view all year.
I also know a guy who wrapped a pearl necklace around the neck of the bottle.... he had a VERY nice afternoon :D

Ya, the ladies love cash, but they love when you put some thought into a gift, a lot more. I , on very rare occasion, listen to my wife, and will pick up hints from her as to what she wants, over the course of the year. When you get something like that, she actually thinks that you listen to her BS, and will really love you for it. It holds me over until next year....:D
She knows how much I hate shopping, so for me to actually have listened, and shop for it is a double win. Sometimes you have to take the hit for the team....
