I pulled the trigger. I saw a small flash and it sounded "funny". John and my son said to wait don't pull the trigger again. John looked at the cylinder. The brass shell casing looked burned on the outside and the bullet was stuck in the barrell.

Did the bullet make it out far enough of the cylinder to lodge in the barrel? ( as in, is it stuck, not able to cycle/turn? )

Squib load.
Take it to a gunsmith and have the bullet pulled if you can't remove it yourself.
Props to John and your son.

I hope I can explain this correctly. It was stuck in the barrel. The brass part was in the cylinder. John was able to get the brass part out of the cylinder. He said it was tight like the brass had expanded. They used a screwdriver/hammer to get the other part out of the barrel.

It all sounds good except the screwdriver part ( might have messed up the rifling). A wooden dowel or brass/aluminum rod should have been used.
A big :seasix: for you for stopping shooting.
Steve/Blademaker was right with the squib load. sounds like a light load or no powder load in the case. Factory or reloads?

I haven't fired it in a while until today. I knew it didn't "sound" right. I turned and looked at John after i fired it and my son was hollering something's wrong, don't shoot it agin. They got the rest of the bullet out of the barrel. My co-workers husband is a gunsmith and an NRA instructor. We'll have him look at it.

Still have the box? There will be a lot number on it. Contact them to see if they had any recalls on that run.

Case looks somewhat normal ( discoloration from hot gases being blown back on it from stuck bullet )
Send that picture to the ammo supplier.

I'd buy the Ruger off you if the government weren't such dicks about telling us what we can't do. Oh well the stores around here are full of them... But the thing is if I do go to the store for another Ruger revolver I'm coming home with a 480 :D

Can't wait to get my Glock 21. Haven't heard if my FFL has it yet but I'm golfing this morning anyway. Clark called me Thursday to tell me it shipped and we were chatting while my playing partners were staring daggers at me on the #18 tee box. :D

Joebuck, your Ruger is on the way. The gun store owner thought it was worth $400, but I dropped it when he handed it back to me. It is now worth what you paid me for it. The cylinder won't close unless you grab it with a pair of pliers, but it does shoot just fine.
figgers, just when all the guns are gone, now i get a job offer.
eh, i have other bills that take priority, hopefully, i'll be in the market for another gun in about a year or less.

Sweet. Buck finally got himself a handle. Maybe next time he'll be able to keep from getting shot in the ass with #4 shot.

Folks who bought guns from me, I have to say this: I am just about mad enough to start throwing things.
The gun store that is my FFL still has every single gun in the store that I dropped off for delivery. Cybercowboy sent me a pm asking to track the package.
The reason given to me is that they "have been too busy to let anyone get away" to drop off the guns, that are already packaged, at the US Post Office that is about one mile from the store.
I just now learned what is happening. I had assumed that everything was going out the same day I dropped it off at the store. I offered to take the guns to the PO for them and was told I couldn't because I didn't work for the store.
The store owner told me that he couldn't guarantee when he could get them out. I pointed out that yesterday two of his employees were just standing around and I had to ask one of them to help me. He then sent his son over to take the guns to the PO.
They are leaving this morning. I had no idea and I sincerely apologize for the delay.
There is a private individual that has an FFL in town and from now on, I am going to use him and make sure I know when the guns are going out. I'm also going to insist on a tracking number for any others I sell.
Sorry once again. I just can't believe this store, which has been in business by the same family for so long, could have dealt in such bad faith on this deal.

Do you happen to know exactly how they are shipping them? If through the Post Office I assume it is some sort of a priority-type delivery that requires a signature from the recipient?
