Well, she went to court today. She got 6 months probation, has some required classes, and will likely have her license in 6 months time.

She got off WAY to easy.

She may have gotten off easy with the court system but what punishment did the parents give her?

Her parents are complete idiots. It passed without much punishment at all. I think they grounded her for a couple weeks. :kick:

Do you think that she has learned anything from the experience? If so, great that she got off easy, if not, she will repeat.

I don't think that is easy. There was a news program here in Houston where they mentioned that a trend was emerging: folks convicted of things like this (minor crimes) were opting to do the time (a few weeks or months), rather than go through probation, because probation was just too hard. Those folks were choosing to just sit it out, collect their "good time" for working and not causing trouble behind bars, then be done with it without having the probation monkey on their backs.

I missed that thread.. and while I do not condone it, or wish for my children in the USA to do this...

I do know that I am also guilty of driving drunk and or stoned many times while a teen.

Maybe times were different back then.. heck my father use to get a ride home from the cops many times for free without any problems back then.

I have never been charged with drunk driving in the states, but wonder why I was so lucky to be missed.

I guess times were different back then...

Now a days, my roads are mostly just dirt trails and doubt it will ever be a problem with anyone.

Hmmm. Did not smell like one of my headline joints. Not bad, though. :rasta:

Always a mixed bag....
Glad she won't have a record that prevents her from doing positive stuff in the future.

On the other hand, you hope she doesn't get the idea that she can get away with another poor decision because; "it wasn't that bad"
