Excellent movie ! We saw it on IMAX last night. Not much I can say without giving the plot away. There are some distinct ties to the old James Bond-you'll know when you see it. Like all Bond movies-Action from the first minute. It slows in the middle but the ending is wild.

They showed one trailer of a movie with Ahhhnold S. as a Sheriff of a small western town and he's after a guy in a Corvette ZR1. Shades of Vanishing Point with a lot of guns. Wonder how much GM paid for that?

Another trailer shows The Hobbit. This will be another must see.

The Last Stand... it is kinda like Vanishing Point, from the other side of the road, if you will...

Like I said, I can't really discuss much without giving it away. I can say, the ending was a straight up tribute to the original James Bond

Does look pretty dope. In the meantime, I've got a date with Prometheus tonight via Redbox. Wife is going out for Chick Night with her besties.

That crazy dude from "No Country for Old Men" plays the heavy, right?

Guess it's about time they surfaced the gay man crush thing I hear Bardem has for Bond. It's not like it hasn't been highly suggested in previous 007 villian incarnations.

Just rewatched that last night and I "got" a bit more of what Ridley was trying to do re: the connection to Alien. I'd like to see the next one, but I doubt we ever will.

Yeah, that's what I hear. If I don't peep it before Thanksgiving, I'll Redbox that joker when it's released next year. I'm off on Monday, but my son wants me to join him for a Veteran's Day lunch they're having at his school. :seasix:

Will peep, then post my impressions with you later. With the exception of my dog Bruce, my son and I can view it in relative peace tonight since Theresa and Chynna will be out for the evening. :seasix:

Ridley rolls some good cinematic joints, arguably some of the best in the industry. :rasta:

If it's half as deep theologically as "Event Horizon" is, it'll be $1.33 well spent. :cert:

Oh man, have you heard that a VHS copy of Paul W.S. Anderson's 2 hour 10 minute cut of Event Horizon has been found? Apparently it's the only known copy in existence with all the deleted footage intact.

Anderson has always lamented being forced by Paramount to cut that 35 minutes, claiming the cuts ruined the film. Here's hoping he gets to prove his point and we get to see the movie he actually made.

Great... now I'll have to start looking for my Event Horizon dvd...

I've still got my VHS copy of that movie. One of my all-tiime favs. I saw it at least six times at the movie house when it came out.

I was immediately intrigued by the concept of Hell and the space/time continuum and the religious symbolism throughly saturating the movie is off the chain!

For instance, the entire Event Horizon ship is shaped like a crucifix and the bulkheads look like cathedral collumns. So much exquisite detail in that movie you have to take it frame by frame and analyze.

I would love to see the director's cut version of that flick. Besides, I'll peep anything starring Sandy, er, Joely Richardson. She's one of my favorite actresses and reminds me of our esteemed VB moderatrix.

Saw it last night after having to do some theater hopping. Missed the 7:10 so went into the 7:30 theater...ended up in the front row. Ugg. Just about the time I was going to just close my eyes and get some sleep to prevent motion sickness, an usher came in and told everyone up front that the 8:00 theater was nearly empty if we wanted to move (the trailers had just started).

So we jumped to the 8:00 theater and snagged the middle/middle seats.

I thought it was pretty good action wise...but plot wise I wasn't impressed. I won't go back to the theater to watch it but I'll catch it when it comes on TV.
